Patch 0.4.4: Movement Stutter Fixes, Save Props and Boss Updates

Greetings adventurers,

Hotfix 0.4.4 is now live. This update focuses on smoother movement in free exploration, fixes wall prop persistence when loading older saves, and connects dedicated models for major dungeon encounters.

Here is the breakdown of what changed:

• Performance & Movement Fluidity: Resolved recurring micro-hitches during free exploration (BUG-008). Optimized internal action economy cooldown queries to eliminate frame allocations, cached sorted class feature lookups, streamlined status signature checks and tooltips, and throttled minimap refresh rate to position updates and 100ms ticks.

• Persisted Wall Props & Save Integrity: Fixed an issue where authorially removed wall fixtures (such as the sewer drain pipe in Level 1) reappeared when loading older saves. Removed the stray torch at the same location. Existing demo saves are upgraded to schema 2 with an automatic backup and preserved progression. (BUG-007)

• Localization Fix: Fixed the save loading screen displaying hardcoded Italian text ("Caricamento...") regardless of the active language, properly binding the localization key to display "Loading...".

• Dedicated Boss Visuals: Bound King Baako in Level 1 and Cerberus in Level 2 directly to their unique dedicated character scenes instead of generic archetype models.

Hotfix 0.4.3: Gate Targeting Fix, Lush Vegetation & Visual Polish

Hotfix 0.4.3 focuses on targeting precision, environmental atmosphere, and defeat cinematic flow.

Bug Fixes & Gameplay

• Open Gate Click Targeting: Fixed open dungeon gates intercepting mouse clicks in the doorway air and floor. Movement, monster targeting, and floor interactions now pass through open doorways seamlessly, while clicking the top or side frame borders still closes the gate. (BUG-006)

Visuals & Environment

• Dungeon Vegetation & Clutter: Corridors and chambers now feature lush procedural vegetation along wall baseboards, focusing on slender grass clusters and crevice sprouts that break the seam between walls and flagstones. Environmental bone remains and moisture puddles have been restored with wall-hugging layouts.

• Sewer Drainage & Seepage: Reworked drain water with a murky olive-green hue, softer surface motion, gentler torch reflections, and fuller impact splashes. Wall moisture decals now branch naturally into the stone stain.

• Cinematic Defeat Sequence: Refined the game-over sequence with glowing eyes emerging from darkness, a heavier opening heartbeat, a pause before the villain's laughter, six rotating defeat messages in English and Italian, and seamless skipping without restarting audio.

Interface & Polish

• Level-Up Summary Dialog: Updated the confirmation panel to match the gothic dark-fantasy UI theme with ornate metallic frames, recessed content backdrops, and refined typography.

We just rolled out a hotfix to address several community reports and refine combat encounters, visuals, and UI responsiveness.

Patch Notes

Audio & Visuals

• Cerberus Boss Battle Music: Updated Cerberus' combat encounter theme with a new looping music track.

Bug Fixes

• Level 1 Sentry Goblin Torch: Fixed an issue where the goblin at the end of the entrance corridor had its held torch unlit after the intro cutscene. Held torches now reliably ignite when gameplay begins.

• Monster Pursuit & Pathfinding: Corrected excessive walk animation speed during short and consecutive movements. Fixed path searches incorrectly rejecting clear cells beyond corridor corners.

• Party Portrait Drag Preview: Fixed character portraits failing to show a floating thumbnail when dragged in the inventory grid and character panels. Dragging now displays a semi-transparent, framed portrait following the cursor.

• Condition Tooltips: Condition details now stay open while hovering even when unrelated party updates refresh the character panels.

Improvements & Polish

• First-Launch Language Detection: The game now automatically adopts your selected Steam language on first launch, falling back to English if unsupported, while preserving existing custom preferences.
