Need tips for Coyotes
I have a mission to spot 2 different Coyotes in Mt. Leviathan but can't seem to spot any at all, no tracks, no calls, it's like they don't exist over here.

Also, I have the hardest time tracking them down anywhere else on this map. Seems like I can track a Coyote for days and never actually spot it. I can get calls around me and rarely actually run into them. I have actually killed a couple but they move fast enough to be hard to catch up to without completely scaring them off and the lure doesn't seem to work reliably. I have read tips about waiting for them to approach and that they don't approach directly when called, but they still seem very difficult to actually get a kill on. Meanwhile, I've seen videos where people make it look easy, where they run into packs... It's like I'm not playing the same game honestly.

Any tips and reliable locations would be of great help, especially in regard to the Mt. Leviathan 'spot 2' mission. Thanks.

Is it just coyotes that are missing or eveything. If it is everything I made a guide on how to fix it

I got annoyed and killed the first one and eventually saw a second.

coyotes are very difficult, I'm on the mission to get 5 and 1 in each district, I need the last one in Layton Lake. Spent a day and not even hearing a call. I think the best way to harvest one is to run around till you hear a call, then crouch, use the caller and wait, find a higher place or a nearby hunting tower, and be very patient, use your binoculars, since they are very small and difficult to spot. don't chase as they run too fast. once you hear the call, it can take even a hour for it to come close.

Wait until 9pm, go sit in a tower, tab out and watch youtube vids on low volume until you get a coyote barking ^^ usually doesn't take very long. If you dont get anything for 30 minutes, move to another stand.

You can also try to move to the border of the yellow mission area and try to kite inside the animals (the callers have a range of 200m). Have worked out perfect for me during a couple of missions :)

I've yet to see a pack of coyotes, granted I only have 5 hours in game, I had one randomally walk up on me but other than that they seem to be kind of difficult to stalk, if the game has any resemblence of realism I would say its because their dogs and dogs have fantastic hears and smell senses. I was going to correcting "hears" into "hearing" but I find it to hilarious to change.

Concerning mission, it is know problem. Mt. Leviathan has nearly no coyote population especially if you look around the crater lake. I would suggest checking eastern limit of the map on the other side of the mountain, along the river. I usually find at least one coyote there.

To hunt coyote, you must be patient and stay low. They are predators with keen senses. Watch for wind and visibility

Almost every mission involving harvesting/spotting/getting a photo of an animal in a specific area is in a low density population area for the animal species. Best method is to try and call one into the specified area from just outside the boundary. There are a few places where said species do not live in. It may only pass through the area once or twice a day or even once every few days/nights. The missions are challenging but when you finally get them done you feel like you've accomplished something.

So I managed to find a couple, finally, at a need zone north/northeast of the Mt. Leviathan Outpost at night 2000-2130. It's just south of the Cheelah region and it seems that's where they wandered in from. They have a food need zone here and a rest need zone east of here.

Grand Coyote Tour mission has been updated, now needs just two regions.
:steamsad:

It isn't really hard and can be done while doing other missions around the map. Coyotes are really everywhere, plenty of them are L1-3 females which are easy to lure

ha ha... I gave up on that mission.

There were tons around there before I addressed the mission...
And when I did... couldn't find any. : (

Happened to me on a Coyote mission at Cheela Lake too.
Before I accepted the mission... there were coyotes everywhere.
Once accepting the mission... not a coyote anywhere : (

I think the game's AI locked me out or something to that effect. Lol

I finally gave up... moved on to another mission.

Wouldn't ya know... shot the coyote on Cheela right after that.
I think it credit me for that mission too. I don't remember.

Yea, they seem to travel very far and it seems like it's easy to miss them even if they circle back. I haven't been all over the map yet, but Balmot, Cheela and Mt Leviathan don't seem to have but a few of them that wander around so they have been few and far between. They're easy to scare off and they seem to trot and run more often than walk so they cover a lot of ground quickly.

You may find some on the NE side of the mountain, near the LookOut as well. Also a small lake to the north should have some as well.

Normally if you find rabbits your going to find the Coyotes, but this mission is not as easy as it used to be.. The spawns for the coyotes in this area seems to be very limited..

The valley where the Tree Stand to the NE is you should find at least ONE, maybe, if your lucky as well.

3:00-5:00 time slot Iv found they are most active.
