Crossbow scope + Zeroing - All effective ranges for all bolts
Hey there,

There are a few posts here and there about how zeroing affects the crossbow effective range with the 3-pin scope but none of them are truly reliable.

That's because there are 3 factors to be taken into account:
-Scope pin
-Zeroing
-Bolt weight

There is no constant formula that allows you to find the effective range for any configuration you may have and because of that you have to test all the combinations by yourself... But fear not as this is precisely what I did ! So here's a breakthrough of all effective ranges for each bolt type, zeroing distance and scope pin.

I've accurately measured the distance with the binoculars and taken multiple shots to confirm the value each time.

300gr bolts
Zeroing 10
Top pin: 20
Middle pin: 50
Bottom pin: 80

Zeroing 30
Top pin: 30
Middle pin: 60
Bottom pin: 90

Zeroing 50
Top pin: 50
Middle pin: 80
Bottom pin: 110

420gr bolts
Zeroing 10
Top pin: 10
Middle pin: 35
Bottom pin: 60

Zeroing 30
Top pin: 30
Middle pin: 55
Bottom pin: 75

Zeroing 50
Top pin: 55
Middle pin: 75
Bottom pin: 95

600gr bolts
Zeroing 10
Top pin: 10
Middle pin: 25
Bottom pin: 40

Zeroing 30
Top pin: 25
Middle pin: 40
Bottom pin: 55

Zeroing 50
Top pin: 50
Middle pin: 65
Bottom pin: 80

Always use crossbow zoomed all the way in the scope. The mid and bottom dot will vary wildly if you are not zoomed in.
Wind (when blowing in favor or against you) will impact the distance shown above for mid and bottom pins, usually around +/- 5m.

Hi, I think you are wrong with your measurements - here is my experience with all types of bolts: :cms21wrench: :cms21nomoney:

UUUUUUPS! YOU ARE RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just tested the scope at the Hirschfelden range = unbelievable

Here is how I have used the crossbow scope - and now I have to change my aim.

Tested lvl 4 bison
600gr bolt zero@50 bottom pin = 80m

Zero at 10m
top 10m
between 20m
middle 30m
between 40m
bottom 50m

Zero at 30m
top 30m
between 40m
middle 50m
between 60m
bottom 70m

Zero at 50m
top 50m
between 60m
middle 70m
between 80m
bottom 90m

Like your post - very few explain the crossbow scope

Very new to the game, so I appreciate this.
how do you change the zero ? Is it the same as hitting the F key as with the other weapons if you have the zero perk active?

Zeroing has changed to 20 - 40 - 60. Is the above information still valid (just add 10 to each number)?
