Need a New Place to Hunt Ducks
I have been hunting ducks for 10 days at High Lake and South Lake. I use to get 25+ ducks a trip (two hour game play). Now i am lucky to get 15 ducks. The reason is my map is entirely pink throughout my hunting spots. Few ducks are spawning because the map is pink. Can anyone suggest a new place to hunt ducks? When the map returns to normal, I will return to the High Lake area.

this is my honey spot, they come in like buses every 7 minutes, never ending ducks. i have set up 40 decoys crossing the entire inlet and dont even have to call them in, they come in in waves. oh and i dont even really use the set up on the east side much, put it there for changes in wind direction, so most of my hunting is from the west side, ducks have a poor sense of smell but sometimes they do pick up on it, so maybe you wll want to do as i did, set up on both sides.

and by the way, ducks are not affected by hunting pressure so you can burn a pink hole in your screen and they wont ever notice.
Good Hunting !!

Thanks for info Jinn. I tried your spot twice. Got 23 Ducks the first time (9 in one flock) and 24 Ducks on my second try (plus 2 bear and a moose). Plenty of need zones every where. My map is pink like yours.

The last hour of game play, I noticed many flocks flying over me but not landing. I think the reason is because I have no decoys. I am going to get the Duck DLC and see if it makes a difference. One quick question: Do you put your blinds in the tall reeds or in the shorter weeds by the shore?

the reeds dont matter, just set up in a clear area along the shore, once you set up your blinds you are basically invisible. but decoys are a must, use the 20 you get with the dlc and buy 20 more and set all 40 out, crossing the entire inlet but keep the northwest side clear of them, they will land there, its endless duck meat. set up a tent on the south side, if you need money, go there, its a for sure spot. i am so happy its working out for you. :steamhappy:
and everyone calls me Saphy, have fun !!

heres a shot of my setup:

Duck Hunting in Layton -- best lakes?
Hey there, duck hunters!

I've been hunting larger game around Layton Lake district for a few days and have several camps set up near some beautiful lakes.

I thought I would try my hand at the duck huntin' game.

Was wondering if all the lakes are more or less created equal, or if there are certain lakes that are much better than others.

Anybody have any tips?

What do you look for in a good duck spot?

Anywhere along and near the western river is the best place to find them, and pretty much anything else... Especially. Moose. But many many ducks there as well.

One of my duck setups had no ducks about half the time. So, I decided to check out Saphy's cove. Walked the shore all around it for a long distance in both directions & found no duck need zones. But you got to have some faith, so I moved my setup to the west side of the cove anyway. Went off hunting deer for a couple of hours. Then, I FT back to the setup & it was covered up in ducks, & the feather need zones littered the shore. Shot 4 or 5 of them & another flock came in b4 I could confirm them & get back to the blind. My 3rd duck setup has found its new home. Thanks Saphy.

so happy its working out for everyone, one trick if you have no duck sign in that area is to set up your decoys and call them in, they will come in and once they do, presto, they leave feathers.

i think my map is buggy or broken. I login into the game. go to the spot and ducks appear for 2-3x times. but after that no more ducks come visit my setup :( noticed that on 3-4 spots now

you tube COTW duck spots

some good videos

Im finding and agree the main western river is better than some of the lakes imo
the lakes are good for a few hunts then duck numbers seem to drop off..and no flocks spawn
however, on the main river they spawn like clock work agree! like every few minutes
but check out these two lakes they are ok for ducks try em' found a rare and a diamond
