Best spots for tree stand, any guide or advice ?
Hi,

Where did you put your Tree-stand ? I'm looking for hot spots to place them on each map but I don't really now where at the moment. Though I've been playing for 450 hours, i can't make up my mind.
Thanks

The sides of the river of fernando have a lot of good spots for buffalo.

Try to locate your treestands near need zones. Or close to rivers and lakes.

Oh and by the way there is a youtuber, who calls himself Jaxy Beard who has some nice videos with suggestions about hotspots for different animals so for Layton in particular. That's a good source of information for those hotspots! /There might be others also and in different languages.

totally depends on what animal you are targeting, sometimes i find where the landscape funnels them into a narrow pathway to cross, and make that my kill zone. a land crossing by a large mass of water, a narrow pathway between two large hard to climb hills, anything to funnel them. i am having luck with two on either side of a lake, animals always move near water so you set up in their path. try to set up in the middle of an open area so you have a large kill zone in front of you.

i find that some of the things to watch for with tree stands, is being too low and spooking animals, view obstructed by neighboring trees or branches of that tree, and the degree of panoramic view.

often finding trees to use in an area is difficult enough.

placement too near brush will cause you to spend alot of time waiting for hidden animals to appear.

Often a treestand doesnt give the same view all the way around that a tripod does, and leaves you just looking at one point of view.

with that in mind i think tree stands are more for setting up overlooking a trail that you often see animals following. Doesnt have to be directly overhead as long as it offers a good shot.

Lakeshores are good for this if you can find a tree that sticks out enough from the rest, or offers a good shot across to the other side, but that makes it a little diffcult to harvest while you hunt which means that you wont be getting those animals replaced with possibly higher level options.

I find i use alot more tripods on my maps, but i do also find that certain species tend to dislike them more than others so having said that tree stands sometimes are the best oprton for certain species.

Definitely put them in a tree.

Find a need zone for the species you're targeting. Put the treestand on the downwind side in a place where you can see a majority of the zone.
