Oh and by the way there is a youtuber, who calls himself Jaxy Beard who has some nice videos with suggestions about hotspots for different animals so for Layton in particular. That's a good source of information for those hotspots! /There might be others also and in different languages.
often finding trees to use in an area is difficult enough.
placement too near brush will cause you to spend alot of time waiting for hidden animals to appear.
Often a treestand doesnt give the same view all the way around that a tripod does, and leaves you just looking at one point of view.
with that in mind i think tree stands are more for setting up overlooking a trail that you often see animals following. Doesnt have to be directly overhead as long as it offers a good shot.
Lakeshores are good for this if you can find a tree that sticks out enough from the rest, or offers a good shot across to the other side, but that makes it a little diffcult to harvest while you hunt which means that you wont be getting those animals replaced with possibly higher level options.
I find i use alot more tripods on my maps, but i do also find that certain species tend to dislike them more than others so having said that tree stands sometimes are the best oprton for certain species.
