Hey man, explore a lot, that gives you XP and knowledge where the best hunting spots are. Then do the missions, and do the Hunting Club tasks, often you have a lots XP to win. And finally, just hunt! Happy hunting, and have fun with the "Hunter - Call of the wild" Hope to see you in a multiplayergame soon!

Shoot things as you explore and work on the missions. Discovering outposts, landmarks and watch towers get you XP. Also keep an eye for collectibles they get XP. Shoot the smaller animals that you can handle with your euipement as you explore for XP.

If you are able with your current gear work on the missions, they are excellent XP.

Oh yah forgot about the new hunt club thing, do the daily challenege for bonus XP/money.

There is one more thing: Hunt with the right weapon. A moose with the .243 is not a good idea you will waste trophy points, will get less XP and especially less weapon points. And you don't get more XP, when doing this, if I'm not mistaken you will get less. For example harvesting a deer with the right weapon c a n get you trophy points of about 600, hunting a female moose will get you at the most 500 points. I find the weapon points even more important, because you need a special ammount of weapon points to unlock stuff like weapons or visires.

First, forget about Level 1 animals, ignore them completely unless you have mission to harvest specific species in which case they offer fastest opportunity to complete such mission. If you shoot them, you risk spooking higher level animals nearby. Second, always know what missions you have active so you can hunt more efficient - missions give 500 or more XP points for completion on top of regulat harvest XP points. In case you see several available targets, choose one according to mission requirements. Third, go to hot spots and hunt left and right, but remember what I said first about Level 1. And lastly, always try to get quickest kill by hitting heart, spine, or lungs at least with the right weapon for animal class

I'm afraid I think the opposite. Targetting level 1 animals is the strongest alternative strategy to levelling up fast. If you harvest herds of animals (does) by re-calling them immediately after a bow-shot/downing one you can level up very fast. This does not smack of "authenticity" depending on how "purist" your views are but it IS certainly an alternative way to level quickly. I suspect you can get more xp/minute/hour this way than doing many of the missions. Eg herd of 10x does can be killed within 1/2 hour (easily) - this would be approx (I know there are variables) 1500xp and 6000cash. Two (small) herds and you've levelled up (early levels)!
I used this method as I was keen to unlock skills/perks and THEN focus on nice, big animals.
Personal choice, ofc.

It is a good point, Scythe. However, it applies better to European map which I did not explore yet. American map has only herds of elks, deers rarely travel in group more than three doe

Thanks and that is true, rookie31st. Though once you've unlocked the 600g arrows elk fit the bill perfectly, too...

I say just hunt and enjoy the scenery. No need to rush, although it is hard not to, the better rifle is just around the corner. Explore, unlock lookouts and outposts, also points of interest. Relax, its all good.
