COMPLETED - The fox and the scope Tips and guide
Hi.

Alright, so Its not that I dont understand the mission. I do. But does anyone have any tips? Like where to find some good open spaces/fields (specific location). Where did you do it? The best time in the day to do so and such. Anything,

because this is annoying as hell. No game ever wants you to spend this much time on a singel mission, which in my opinion should have been a side mission (optional).

Thanks In advance.

****EDIT****

I completed the mission. Here is what i did, some good spots and my recommendations.

How I completed:

Köningsberg, Petershain
Map location: -5212.520, 8664.650
I stood on the rock on this exact location, and looked to the east. I heard a fox warning call, used the caller once every five minutes and after ca. 15minutes it appeared to the east on the pathway/road going north (220m). The time was 1240 and weather was cloudy and calm, wind direction south west. Bonus tip: I would also consider how you approach this rock. One time i approached it just running full speed from the lodge at the south, and suddenly the fox appeared 20m from me in the middle of the field running west. That might ruin your plan if this area doesnt have a lot of foxes.

Other Locations you might get lucky on:

Hirschdorf, Schonfeldt (2nd favorite spot)
Map location: -6181.189 11495.048
On top of a small mountain, which you can climb up upon on the north east side.
Great place overlooking the fields. I spent a lot of time here, and spotted several foxes but ALL of the was to the west. When using the caller he appeared close, down to the right of you (west). Pretty much everytime I spotted one was dawn (0530-0800). I even spotted a legendairy one to the far west beyond that post-thingy on the road.
I don't recommend it as the fox has to many directions it can wander of so you lose sight of it before it reaches 200m. In the end this place was a little frustrating.

Königsberg, Petershain
Map location: -6536.175, 8399.525
Nice open fields. I didnt spend a lot of time here and didnt spot any foxes, but i imagine this could be a decent spot.

Königsberg, Petershain
Map location: -4588.907, 9265.532
Small hill overlooking the fields to the south. Visited a few times in dawn, dusk and night. Didnt spot any fox.

For anyone who might come across this: I found Schonfeldt Strawfields to be a very good spot. The lodge is very close and -7852.79 11470.24 is a great place to overlook the fields. You might be able to finish two missions at once here if you still have Conni #14 (harvest a fox from over 100m away at schonfeldt strawfields) open.

Thank you for pointing this out. I could finally finish the mission. However, i did it from 4707x8936. When you stand here you can overview the whole landscape below and it seems to be the exact spot that you can also see in the photograph attached to the mission.

Ok guys. Ok guys. Other than the whitetail under 35yds at South lake (which I still haven't completed and believe to be glitched) this mission had been the biggest pain period and I've almost completed all missions on all continents.. so here's what finally worked for me. There's a fox sleep need zone at -6544., 8912. There's no glowing grass that I found you have to spot the fox in area but this spot worked like a DREAM once appropriate direction and technique applied. The sleep zones for 07:30-11:00. The spot and area you need to lay is -6501.349, 8711.349. Then you can crawl around as needed with binoculars. I rested there to 08:00. Make sure you have the scent mask spray as the wind in not in your favor. I waited looked slithered around and investigated a couple calls from them until 9 and used the hurt rabbit called once only. Just to get a response. And you will. I fear to much calling and they'll come too close. Anyway. Called once. One came into view in the thicket about 75 yards this side of the sleep zone and rested in the bush. I put it in reverse and back shimmied up the hill until distance past 225 yards.. don't make same mistake I did in the past and not account for gun length. You'll be pissed..I was.. knowing exactly where to go and how to do it you'll be done with this mission in a few minutes. I worked on this one for several real time days.... Oh and make sure you use the 8x16 scope.. ;). Hope this helps. Happy hunting! :D

Mine turned out to be a mythical. Got him from 201.65 m. Insanely close call. https://imgur.com/a/7lVTn06

Literally walked up to the second location you mentioned on the hilltop, looked west, and a red fox was right there in my scope, 320m away. Got a flesh wound on him but it was enough for the kill! Thanks for the help!

I also did it from 4707x8936.. Nice overview over the christmas tree area. I ended up shooting mine in the big open area to the left of the christmas trees, about 9 in the morning.

Thank you for the good fox tips. I assume this can also be used for Somers Bow quest.

At Petershain turbines during the day you can find foxes pretty often. It is a huge open place, ideal for the job.

I like all of the above but a much simpler way for me was to find a drink need zone, set-up and shoot at range. Some of the longer lakes are perfect for this as you can shoot from bank to bank.
