Ground blinds : Who uses them?
Someone use them a lot and regularly?
- Bow hunting?
- Rifle hunt?
I do not see their utilities for bow hunting in COTW.
How long did you wait before you could shoot a close shot?
Does a horde come back after a shot?

ground blinds are for me personally useless since they provide less cover than a bush. and you can't lie down in them. so both for long range and short range they're not ideal.

the same goes for the buildable hunting stands. i haven't met anyone who uses them.

I have used them for Missions, but are far from perfect, all have a very poor design.
The Stands in Taiga are somewhat better, but still have one side blocked. The design of these things totally baffle me.

The only one I've used for "actual hunting" was the one near the church in Layton for the Halloween mission.

I've only failed with ground blinds... as said above they are pretty useless.

They should have a scent masking effect, that would make them more useful.

All my attempts have been worthless.

I use them all the time. I'll admiit they aren't the best, but that's just this game. The concepts are great as they are based on real life strategies, but for some reason the video game element is far more important to the devs, so despite being a tried, tested and true idea - often times you're best to just kinda shoot stuff from bushes or behind trees and rocks. However, I still use them. I hunt irl and played so many hours of Classic and used them a lot there also, so...old habbits I guess.

It is true that with experience and skills, animals rarely have time to see us before we killed them so ...
on the other hand, the treestand could be nice, like on the Classic

Imo the deerstands are too wide too. Who builds a stand where you literally have to walk to look out the windows from left to right. There should have been a seat implemented in the stands. And we could have just rotated on a swivel seat.

Let me explain how the ground blind / hunting stand work now: v1131

I was told they did mask scent. Is that not the case?

I use the blind allot in multiplayer. Especially to help friends that i try to get into the game. Their stalker skill tree is net yet as developed and thats were the blind shines. You can sit in realtively good cover with your friend and call in the animals with callers they dont have access to.

I remember reading, i think in the codex, the ingame stands you can build dotted around the maps, give some scent reduction, 40% or something. BUT the ones from the DLC or purchase only give visual cover, no scent masking.

From my experiences so far they are pretty awesome, when i set one up in a good spot it is usually very hard to keep animals away, so much so that they become annoying because it is usually a lot of females. But if you are patient, have calls and scents you can usually get a good male to come in eventually.

I've used the DLC blinds a couple times. IMO they're pretty useless when you have to stand to see anything. You get the same visibility reduction crouching in the open, but without the hassle of hauling and setting up extra gear. With some clever placement you can get a dirt slope inside to crawl on, but that really limits their versatility. They'd be much more practical if the walls were a foot lower.

A ground blind makes your visiblility the same as if you were prone while you are standing inside. Animals walk right up to the blind as long as it's not placed out in the middle of a open area.
