Rare Color Animals and High Scoring Animals
I have a lot of hours playing and have only seen 1 piebald blacktail and nothing higher then Gold. Anyone have problems? Is this purely random?

Well, I've been wondering the same thing ever since I started playing the game on PS4 back in October of last year. The PC players can probably answer this better than me, but I'll give you my perspective anyway. I've leveled up as high as you can go at level 60, by the way. So, I tend to think I've had a lot of experience. Lol. Anyway, as of writing this response, I've killed a total of 2242 animals, with these ratios. 1016 bronze, 674 silver, 160 gold, and only one diamond so far, which was a black bear. I missed my only opportunity at a diamond ranked blacktail, because I used the wrong weapon caliber and my 100 percent harvest score had gotten reset back to 0 without me knowing. Even though I was happy to get him, it sucked that he only ranked a silver as a result. I've also killed every unique fur type animal I've encountered so far, and those were 3 piebald blacktail bucks, 2 albino whitetail bucks, 1 piebald whitetail doe, I piebald elk bull, 1 melanistic whitetail buck and 1 albino female coyote. And so far, that's been it.

The highest ranked animals in the Layton Lake District are as follows...Black bear - LEVEL 9 LEGENDARY, Coyote - LEVEL 9 LEGENDARY, Moose - LEVEL 5 MEDIUM, Elk - LEVEL 5 MEDIUM, Blacktail - LEVEL 5 MEDIUM and, Whitetail - LEVEL 3 EASY. I've only ever seen ONE LEVEL 5 MEDIUM Blacktail, ONE LEVEL 9 LEGENDARY Black Bear, ONE LEVEL 9 LEGENDARY Coyote, which I didn't kill, and ZERO TOP LEVEL WHITETAILS, ELK, OR MOOSE. Sorry for the caps, just trying to make it easier to read. Dunno if any of that helps you at all, but to summarize my thoughts on this subject...the top ranked and unique fur type animlas in the game are EXTREMELY RARE. It makes it more awesome when you do actually see one, but I do wish the chances of coming across them were a little better. Just my opinion, of course. I've tried every hunting technique the game has to offer as well. Spot and stalk, still hunting, stand hunting, blind hunting, early morning, all day hunting, night hunting, and in every kind of weather. Seeing the true trophies and unique animals reallly are just very random and very fortunate events. So...

GOOD LUCK!!
