How to save

On ps4 what do I have to do to save the game

If it is the same as PC, I assume it is. Then it saves on exit. When you restart it will start from nearest outpost/tent, from where you exited. There is no manual save.

It saves autmatically perodically. Watch the bottom left corner of the screen, you will see a symbol flash when it is saving. Also saves when you exit to the main screen.

When you continue the game you will start at the nearest outpost/tent.

There is no manual saving.

If I want to save on Xbox one, I fast travel to an outpost before I quit.

You don't have to, game will start you back at the nearest outpost/tent from where you exit.

That's not my point, if you are at an outpost and by anything from the store and quit the game directly, you lose it because it's not saved. If you buy stuff then travel to another outpost, your game will save. Also, when you are in the field ready to quit the game, travel to an outpost and it will save your progress.

I'm still not sure if you are asking a question, or trying to make a point.

The game saves on exit. No matter where you are.

No it doesn't, try buying something at an outpost. Then as soon as you get it quit the game. It will not be saved. The game does not automatically save on exit no matter where you are. I spent several thousand on ammo and quit the game. Started the game back up with the credits and and no ammo so it doesn't automatically save.

Sorry you are having problems, but that is how it is suppose to work. I have never had a problem with losing inventory because game didn't save.

Just be glad its saving for you. Mines not saving at all from what I can see. If the game is removed from the ps4 and I start over I loose everything.
