Sundarpatan water buffalo bugs
Hello
I got the map Sundarpatan and i have been meeting the water bufflo and tried to hunt and kill it.
Even if i put 20 magnus bullets from my pistol in the head of one it doset die for 10 minutes.
And it keep running around trying to attack for forever.
If i take my larger gun with a penetration of 20 and shoot it the same happen.
I also tried shooting it inbetween the front legs but that also requite many shots, even from 20m distance.

Another time a ingle buffalo came running to assault me 10 minutes after i shoot at one of the others... why would it go hunting for me vs fleeing that is not natural animal behaviour.

What im saying is i think the water buffalo need some tweaking.

Why are you shooting animals in the head? It's very difficult to kill them that way.

The magnum weapon is rated for class 3-8 animals, and buffalos are class 9. This means the pistol will underperform against animals near its upper limit and perform even worse for class 9 animals. Use a weapon rated for class 7-9 if you want to take them down quickly. Also, penetration 20 is probably not going to be enough.

Lastly, buffalos in this game are aggressive. I’m not sure if they are in real life, but the game wasn’t designed to realistically depict real-life behavior

You're not encountering a bug. Head shots do minimal damage because they are illegal in this game. Frontal chest shots that fail to penetrate the heart often hit gristle and bone (just as they do in RL) and do minimal damage. Instead, aim for the crease where the shoulder meets the chest. A good hit there, with the right sized weapon and poly ammo, will take out a lung at least 95% of the time. Sure, a one lung hit means the animal will run off before it dies, but normally it will die before it leaves the hunting pressure killing it placed on your map. It's simple, Bang you shoot it, check your map, it'll only take a few minutes to die and for the hunting pressure to appear, go harvest it. The point of aim for a heart shot on a large animal facing you is about 1 to 1.5 inches up from the very bottom of it's chest. It's a small target and easy to miss on animals that carry their heads low to the ground like bison and bears. Legal shots in this game are heart, lung, liver and breaking the critters neck. Spine, and gut shots will drop the animals medal rating by 1. It's a good way to turn a diamond into a gold medal and lose $ in the process. Lastly, damaging the trophy organ will net you a score of zero. Antlered, horned and fanged animals have the head listed as their trophy organ. Don't aim for it. This is a game that values shot placement, not the best choice for those that are looking for a wild west shoot 'em up scenario. Hope this helps.
