I do know about workaround with putting away and taking up again the phone but that never worked for me or the friend I played coop with. Neither did changing active mission type. Or any other suggested workarounds - before posting here, I had read other threads about this:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/518790/discussions/0/4679778856491460398/
I found a video about the very same issue which illustrates the issue:

About time they should fix it, right? (like really this is the core feature of the game and it's almost unusable.
Happens in Hirschfelden, haven't tested other reserves (confirmed by other people this happens in other reserves too). Actually happens almost everytime I hunt after some time passes. The only way to bring it back is restart the game.
Another possible reason - might be related to multi-monitor setups or alt-tabbing but haven't confirmed that so far. Another possible cause might be fast travel or hunting pressure - basically anytime the Huntermate screen overlay updates.
Also, notice that crosshair on the screen, for some reason, during this session I couldn't turn it off either. Seems like whole UI have some problems.
Seems like bad coding to me, probably bad update script call timing which results in this freeze.
I don't think this is something devs can solve easily - and refactoring of the code may be very work intensive task, which at the end of the day does not bring money in the bank.
It is what it is.
This needs to be fixed ASAP with the highest possible priority.
Really seems like they only care about new reserves and weapons but leave the core program and its many issues untouched on purpose because there is no money in that.
Compare with SCS and their ETS2/ATS, they do really good job to add new features and fix such issues. This shouldn't be acceptable if they still want our money.
I mean, when I bought this game this didn't happen so it has to be something the broken later on. Since 2019 I periodacally return to the game to check if this was fixed but to my disappointment the issue which makes me not want to play the game is still present even after all those years.
I've used the very same argument referring to SCS' model. They actually invest a portion of their money back into the game, hence why I am happy to buy the Texas DLC (and have already) and why I haven't played this game since Feb.
EW is the kid in class that does just enough to get a passing mark, leaves and never looks back.
I was not arguing whether they should solve it or severity of the bug but rather pointing out that it's (it may be so that several bugs are causing same issue too btw) solution was non-trivial and that devs are not focused on solving it.
If you have waited since 2019 for solution and I started this thread a year ago perhaps both of us have to accept that this will not be solved in 2023 or 2025. It is more likely that we will see a “Machine Guns” DLC first. Is it OK? - no!
But as long people are buying dlcs (and they do) and several youtubers are enthusiastically promoting this game one has to accept that there is no rush to fix issues that do not affect the bottom line.
The rumored technical quality of the game is why I waited to get this game on Epic when it was free there and did not buy it at full price (Devs got their cut but I passed the risk to Epic instead of taking it upon myself).
Since consumerism is guiding force of the gamers today, do not be surprised that in 10 years time half finished games that crash at least once every hour become the norm because it is the most profitable (MVP, minimum viable product, become the new standard for the GOTY edition).
Sorry for the rant.
