And then one day... they reappeared.
But haven't had all my trophy mounts do likewise... Yet.
I haven't checked that yet with this latest update tho'.
Won't be fun if my lodges become void of trophys.
Seems to be a continuing concern / bug with these lodges.
Guess I'll have to go take a look.
Edit : all three of my Spring Creek Lodges / Trophy mounts seem to be intact.
Is your issue specific to a particular lodge DLC ?
I rarely taxiderm an animal that I harvest... Tho' I have in the past without issue.
Are you going to the Trophy manager in search of the " Saved " files ?
I'm not sure how many animals can be taxidermized in that saved file.
But I do know it can only save up to 10 untaxidermized animals at one time.
You sure you're doing it right ?
I usually push " ESC " when in the lrophy manager at the lodge to go to the saved files.
There are two columns in the trophy manager...
1st column is existing trophies mounted in the lodge, 2nd column is the " Saved " file.
M > Trophy Lodge > ESC to access the Trophy manager while in the lodge > select existing Trophies or saved file.
Existing trophies are already on the mounts. Saved file are for trophies yet to be mounted.
check your file integrity on Steam lately ?
Possibly you do have some corrupted files.
Play using multi-player ever ?
Playing with stranger's can lead to corrupt files.
Because stranger's might take advantage of you.
I only play single-player... and occasionally multi-play with my son, whom can be trusted.
That isn't very likely, 'being taken advantage of' in this games online mp part. Regardless I play a fair amount of mp, but I am always the host and it is with people I could trust with anything.
The long and short of my issues is I save a harvest to tax later, or tax before harvesting it. I can go to my lodge and play with any and all animals I've done the previous to, as long as I don't close the game. As soon and I quit Hunter Cotw and then come back to it next time, everything I have killed and saved and taxi'd is gone, never happened.
Maybe it has to do with a setting on Steam ?
Or maybe it has to do with your game settings ?
I'm not having that problem currently.
My game seems to save what I played last.
And I turned of the cloud off in the Steam settings.
So I know it's not that.
I'm not sure what to advise you. But I'd look at the Steam / Game settings.
Maybe someone else will know why the game is not saving ?
The first being that in a persons My Documents folders is where all the relevant data is stored for a player, including trophies. Under Avalanche games for anyone who has this issue.
The second, and most interesting, is that about 6 months ago the devs changed the directory where all that data is stored. It used to be Documents\Avalanche Studios\theHunter Call of the Wild, now it is Documents\Avalanche Studios\COTW.
What ended up meaning for me, is I still had all the old data, which was pre me having owned the trophy lodge dlc. Coupled with constant and consistent crashes caused by The Hunt Club Beta ( Which I now have disabled) there's a good case for some corruption involved as well. It's my estimation that each time I played the game, then closed out, and then launched again, the game was finding something off in the new save location, and thereby replacing that with data from the old directory.
The solution: By moving the folder in Documents\Avalanche Studios, named theHunter Call of the Wild, outside the Avalanche games directory, and launching the game, I was able to harvest and taxi a blacktail deer. Placed it in my lodge and restarted my game. Upon launching the game once more, I did not need to remake my lodge, which has been going on since I came back to the game a few weeks ago. And, the deer I had killed and stuffed was still right where I set it up.
I haven't started the task of filling my lodge back up, but I'm 99% sure this was what was causing all of my issues. Makes me wish the devs would have converted the data from the old to the new one when they changed save locations, and removed conflicting data from the old.
One final note. The game will remake the "TheHunter Call of the Wild" folder, but there won't be anything but a few .json backups.
Obviously there are more threads than mine regarding this issue. But the greater point is the hope that the more threads like this, dealing with issues as detailed in both this thread and the others, is that the devs actually push a fix on their end. There's no excuse for not fixing the problems that arise from an update that effectively blocks a large part of 'end game content'. I enjoy the game, and unlike some, feel that the developers are doing a passable job over all. But still the point remains that if an end user cannot fix a problem after taking reasonable steps to try and fix it, that means it's on the makers and technical support of said game.
We each need to do our part to keep game developers and publishers honest, and uphold them to the same standards that are expected in other areas of production for instance.
