Kills disappearing

I just had three animals disappear in Layton Lake. The first two were Roosevelt Elk, both were wounded. I tracked them for a ways, then when the blood spot changed to indicate 0 - 25% health remaining, the trail just disappeared in both cases. I did a 100 yard weave search along the last tracking axis. Nothing. No animal in sight. One trail ended near a lake, the other in moderate brush. And before you ask, yes I know how to track a wounded animal, both in game and real life. The trails simply vanished. I've never seen that happen before. Sometimes they get confusing, but not just stop when the spoor indicated the animal was bleeding out.

The third lost kill was a blacktail. He was at about 150 yards. I got a clean kill and I could see the corpse through the scope very clearly. I watched for 20 seconds or so to make sure he was dead. No movement. Then I walked over there and found nothing but a blood spot when I arrived. I did a 50 yard spiral search around the blood spot after setting it as my track. No trail, no body, no nothing.

This all happened in less than one hour of play, but not consecutively. There were kills in between (a moose, an elk and a black bear) which functioned perfectly. Two were clean kills, one a short track. All shots were made with the same rifle, sights and ammunition. I did not change equipment of any type. I did not log off in between nor alt-tab out. It was a single continuous play session.

To say that this is frustrating is a massive understatement. I'm not going to continue spending my time on a game that provides such an inconsistent and unsatisfying experience. Having 50% of my kills vanish is not just a bug, it's a completely broken game.

A recent post advocated moving 225 meters away from where the trail ends then going back

I have had this exact problem were the dead animals have vanished on layton lakes single player. i have tried walking 225 meters away. still did nothing.

When i got my dog to track the blood trail. my dog takes me on a goose chase for nearly one KM the stands still and dose nothing.
