Can't see my own name tag or my friends

Did it happen in Multiplayer or Singleplayer?

What exactly happened?
When we started playing again after the update we noticed that we could not see each others tags when we are on the map, our names show when we talk in the chat box but not on the scoreboard or to show how far away another player is. This just happened randomly as we were able to see each other before.
I have tried uninstalling the game and it has made no difference

Have you checked the settings? Nametags can be disabled in Settings > Game

Yes name tags are all on, I can see other peoples name tags as well it is only my friends that I cant see and they cant see mine

Most likely the <around your name>. Try removing those, see if the issue goes away.

Does your friends name happen to contain odd characters and not just letters or numbers also?

Thank you never thought that would be an issue, had it for ages. But you are correct and removing that has fixed it.

Oddly enough, this issue has also been known to keep the game from launching at all.

Weird issues are weird. LOL
