New 7.62x54R ammo stats are identical to the .243
It looks like the stats for the new 7.62x54R accidentally copied the values from the .243 soft point? I would expect the 7.62x54R to have slightly better stats than the .243 softpoint, but the values for penetration (15) and expansion (17) are exactly the same.

And oddly the 7.62 weighs half as much (0.01 compared to 0.02 for the .243) for the same 10 rounds.

The real-world 7.62x54R sits somewhere between the real .243 and .270 in terms of muzzle velocity and energy, while is commonly of similar bullet weight as the .270 (but significantly heavier than a .243).

This right here.
The 7.62x54R is MUCH stronger and heavier than the .243 IRL.
It should be up there with the .270 or slightly below and fill an actual niche within the weapon class 2 (good for larger class 2 game (whitetail deer & wild boar), but still able get 100% on smaller class 2 game (blacktail & fallow deer).

Now that I've used the Mosin Solokhin rifle a bit, it seems to actually hit harder than the .243. So maybe it's just a visual issue with the stats that are displayed in the UI. The underlying behavior seems to be pretty powerful.

It could be as simple as bullet friction being better with the MN1890, so that it retains more of the muzzle velocity at distance.

If that was the case you'd expect comparable outcomes at 15m but far better results from the MN1890 than the .243 at 100-200m ranges.

The problem is that the weapons' stats are not fully transparent in-game. Either the game hides some info from the players, or the values shown in-game are not correct. This concerns the "expansion" stat in particular. In theory .357 handgun and .243 rifle should have the same performance at close range, but when you actually use these guns, you will quickly notice that it's not the case and that .357 hits are weaker. Moreover, two weapons which received a considerable boost in patches - .45-70 and 12GA/20GA birdshot - had none of their visible in-game stats changed in the process.

The MN stats shown in-game can be outright ignored. This gun is at least as powerful as .270 and lack of poly-tip ammo isn't a real problem at all.

Sorry but the MN1890 is woeful. Perfect centre shot, maybe an inch too high for the heart and it can't even reach the lungs. It may or may not be as good at the 270 but it can't even match the .243 with polymer tipped bullets.

Very unimpressed.

For smaller animals is quite good
The Mosin Rifle Ammunition 7,62 Trembles while aiming. And stopping the air does not help

Mule deer are bigger than the Fallow it failed to penetrate for me. Maybe it's just inconsistent as hell or maybe it's only effective at 100m and drops off by 150m.

I'm getting better results with the .45 at 75m against Fallow deer, and that's just embarrassing for the MN1890.
