Soft Feet skill Problem

Hello,

I recently discovered through YouTube and twitch that other players generate less noise than I do.

So I did some testing with a friend:
I have soft feet level 2, no backpack, and when crouching through a bush I have 2 sound bars and while crawling 1.
When my friend (same setup) crouched through the same bush he has 1 sound bar and crawling 0.

Even when I crawl through grass I have 1 sound bar.

Is my savegame corrupt? Is there anything I can do to fix this or will I have to start all over again (which I probably won't be doing..)

Hi!
If you play with keyboard, please see if there's any difference if you crouch or crawl while holding down Shift or if Caps Lock is on. Doing so allows you to move a bit faster but also creates slightly more noise - same way as it is with walking and running.
If you're playing with a controller, you might need to push the left stick slightly less - if you push it all the way to the maximum, it'd be as if having the Shift pressed when crawling/crouching.
Let me know if that solves the problem!

With Soft Feet 1 for me (no backpack):

3 sound bars when walking slowly through grass,
1 sound bar when crouching slowly through grass,
0 sound bars when proning slowly through grass,

1 sound bar added to above when holding shift.
1 additional sound bar in shrubs and big foliage. It evens adds an additional sound bar in large bushes/trees it seems. Didn't check before Soft Feet 1 though.

So I have the same noise level as OP through bushes with only Soft Feet 1. IF it is actually a bush. There are 3 types of vegetation it seems.

I play with M&K but neither caps lock or shift is pressed. If I do so, I have:
Crouching through bush 3 bars
Crawlign through bush 2 bars

So I found a savegame from 2017 where I have not skilled the Soft Skill at all (no skill reset had happened) and I have the same sound bars at the same bush as with my current save which has the soft skill.

Have you reset you perks at some point?

After I reset my shotgun perks, the pack mule skill wasn't working any more (although it was still displayed as selected). Had to reset and re-select the skills to get it working again.

So you could try to reset you skills and see if it works then.

So you could try to reset you skills and see if it works then.

I tried that (re-skilling, equipping and unequipping backpack) but that sadly didn't helped either - good point tho!

I did send the savefile to ava_konrad so hopefully they might be able to figure something out
