More proof tracking is all messed up!
Was hunting today in Yukon and came across some bear and Caribou. Shot at both the Caribou (Bugged 5th level) died but as you can see what transpired is just more proof that tracking is screwed up royally!

This is a normal caribou track 4 hoof prints for one animal

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1834101022

Went quite a ways and this was the first track I found after the first couple. Notice only 1 hoof print for the tracked animal in green, 1 hoof print for another caribou showing in red and then only 2 prints for a non tracked bear shown in red

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1834100992

I then tried to ID any of them and as you can see no option for E shows up when I am standing right on top of the tracks.

I also had a separate bugged level 5 I shot and killed and it dropped I saw it drop was right along the shoreline so not like it was hidden by grass or brush or bushes or anything it dropped on the sand at the shoreline and I ran a couple of steps and then it just up and vanished no where in sight! No tracks no carcass nothing! The lower level I shot to it's side ran off and was harvested later but the level 5 dropped on the spot as I saw it laying there in the scope!

even the old ones messed up as I was having elk tracking issues before Yukon was even released and that's one of the original maps. I know days before Yukon came out I shot 2 elk both laid no tracks at all but both died as I did find them but took some time trying to find them as I ran off in the direction I saw them run off to but trackings issues effecting more then Yukon

The release of the Yukon reserve was the start of most peoples troubles... I know every game has its peculiarities and bugs, but this release f**ked things up for me in a big way... Thanks to the genius of my son, he managed to claw most of my progress back, but I lost every out post and tower on every map (except Yukon), which I had to rediscover and reclaim...
Since then things have gotten progressively worse and I confess to being really disappointed and p*ssed off with the whole thing...
The list of things that are going wrong would make heavy reading and I doubt that anyone would reach the end without that too boring the sh*t out of the reader :steamfacepalm:

Awesome your son was able to help, should hire him out to others in the forum having issues like those :)

Tracking bug has been around for maybe a year now? first i've seen what's shown above. mostly you'll see tracks vanish, or no tracks at all. Happens on all maps.
Like this moose you can see I start the video off in the center of the kill zone and closest animal track was 84M's away
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQ0dhDqYzDI
tracks also vanished at the end took me 65M's to find the moose with no tracks for the last 65M's

This was another I mentioned and the devs just claimed it was because I was at the seat end of the stand which is BS as there is no bar in my binocs so no reason my range should drop to less then a Meter it is clearly being blocked by some invisible wall that the binocs and scope can't see. This is why I am seriously starting to think these issues won't ever really be fixed. Maybe patched for a few weeks until they break again

That's some noise you generate when using your nocs... I don't get that on my PC.

I'm fortunate that my youngest lad has the same interests as I do... We're both outdoors types and we both like to tinker with stuff. He's much like me in a lot of ways as he can turn his hand to most things and isn't a quitter. None of my kids were raised to be weak minded, (not even the girls). We all help one another when it's really needed but don't live in each others pockets

Well I have a backpack on so I think it's related to a known bug thats suppose to be fixed in this mega update if they do their job right.

Let's hope so. The update sounds good on paper but I'm rather sceptical. I hope I'm proved wrong? I've just lost 3 bears on Roonachee Highs... All instant kills from about 200m. When I got there to collect, they'd gone and in one spot it asked me to collect something I couldn't see. I didn't bother because I know it would just crash the game anyhow... Very annoying as you lose the ammo and the rewards but the damn pressure stays there... Funny that :steamfacepalm:

Yeah I had a Caribou (lower level one) do that I tracked it for couple maybe 200-300M's it was at 0%-25% and then the tracks just stopped. Spent 30 minutes or so scouring the entire area and never did find it.

Then later stupid steam messed up two more kills I shot two duck in Yukon and was trying to get a few others before I harvested that were in a further out flock and just as I was aiming in one one steam DC'ed even though my net was OK steam just DC'ed and screwed up the shot as well as losing me the two I had killed already.

The one good thing though is I got enough animals of the proper size to finish out my Alaska lodge entry area upstairs and downstairs!

Nice.... I'm now awaiting this "wonderful" update that comes out this Monday.. I have to say, I'm wondering what else will they f**k up for us? It seems they're like the government, they give you something with one hand and take it back with interest in the other :steamfacepalm:

It would be nice to see the tracking system upgraded to a much better game mechanic. Rain should make the tracks fade, animals walking on hard surfaces should leave no tracks as well when they pass though water or over a wooden plank path. Tracking in the snow would stay the same. It's never really bother me when the tracks just stop ,the tracking system is OP imo. I'd just like to see it make sense, sometimes I can't help feel like the guy in Predator ,six men with US equipment went east, one is eating a ham sandwich and.....sniff sniff, one needs a shower. lol
