Tracks not appearing?
I did a cursory search and apparently this was a bug from a long time ago, but it's become a real issue - I only just started playing again, and for the first session tracks worked just fine. Now, though, everything is invisible - tracks, blood, scat, etc. Unless I'm right on top of it I can't see it, and when I examine it nothing is highlighted. Needless to say, makes things pretty difficult.

yeah have noticed this as well. On Layton map I had an elk I did find but at first when I got to the field I shot him in there was no tracks.

Then yesterday lost a Piebald all the pre shot tracks were there as was the blood patch but no new tracks after and darn it he was a beauty!!

Just a thought...telling the devs "tracks disappear" doesn't help them find the problem very much. They could use a little more information. Incl the area within the reserve where it happened might help, the species involved etc... It's all too easy for someone to assume that A) the tracks were there U just didn't look hard enough to find them B) Your graphics settings were not set properly or C) It is just a minor hiccup that you can cure by running a local file integrity verification program. By letting them know what, when and where as well as what your settings are and what action you've taken to mitigate the problem kinda forces them accept that there really is a problem and it's not on your end.

Tracks and even animals have vanished in LL during some of my games but it's been a very rare thing to have happen. That being said, having it happen even one time is one time too many.

I just thought of this but just out of curiosity have you checked your game settings for track colors.

Some tracking colors on certain maps are a poor default and perhaps something happened that reset your track colors to default making them seem to disappear.

i've been noticing this alot lately though as my settings are all fine but some tracks just are not coming up like this one

he was moving from the NW to the SE then when I shot him he bolted north from the last track. I spent a good 30 minutes and no tracks showed up except the few I spotted (Note being the direction I did not backtrack further as I knew he was moving South Eastward but the tracks did just up and vanish at the blood splatter.

Shame to as he was a huge piebald male moose. Beautiful coloring. Might have been diamond from the size of him but didn't get chance to ID him for more info being how fast he moved. I know he died also as the map turned purple and he was first kill in this area of the map.

There is no rhyme or reason to it. ALL tracks, all traces, everything, stops showing up randomly. I drove from one end of the map to the other, nothing. A few restarts later and suddenly things appear again, only to disappear after 20 minutes of game play or so. This has nothing to do with in game settings or graphics cards. I don't know what specifics to provide because it seems to be a global happening, not a local area.
First off I know all about the light when it gets dark and times for the below events varied but the lights were on when required!!

There is definitely a bug with tracks and animals. I just sighted a moose as well as a herd of Caribou pretty much right next to each other. I first took a shot at the moose and hit it as I saw the animal of the hit (Unsure what type of hit) I then saw the caribou were still there so I took one of them out the rest were using trees.

So I got to the spot that my huntermate put the moose and there was zero moose tracks in the area and no moose as he had run off. This is the second time I have had this happen with Moose on Alaska. The first was on day 1 and was unlocking outposts when I came to a mission point so as I stopped to get it a piebald moose stumbled past me and started to run. I shot it and I know it died as the map turned purple. It had run though some before dying. So I found the hair track so i know I was on the piebalds track and not one of it's friends and I tracked it in and finally got the the non vital blood patch and that was it. No tracks at all in the direction I saw the moose run off. I spent 30 minutes looking for him and not one track ever showed up after the blood track and I went quite a ways out with the ATV and nothing.

I have also had this happening with Elk where the tracks are not showing up on Lake Layton where I shot the elk I then go to the spot and not one elk track in the area I then go in the direction he ran off and I did find him but there was no tracks what so ever between the shot location and the dead animal location.

Something is definitely off with the tracking and this all started before Alaska release so is prior to that and also after the release.

Tracks disappeared on me too yesterday. Was following a Grizzly Bear, it had initially tracks. I shot it with an arrow, it fled. I followed it, but no tracks, I only followed the noise and the trampled grass, until I stumbled upon the trophy/body, than suddenly I got tracks and highlights etc. This is annoying in areas with lush lower vegetation to find a body again :/

I have been in a tripod stand mid day watch a herd pass by no tracks. started shortly after skill respec also lost perks after respec that i did not respec . 300 hours i know it was not turn off . And not night time. Logging out and changing maps will fix for short time tracks show again. Then they stop working again.
Here's a good example of what we have been talking about.

On my huntermate you will see a line of green track marks with the left side mark being the last found mark. Note that this mark is sort of behind the pine tree that is on the right edge of the screen shot.

Now I have all the skills for extra tracks and such so I should have more tracks on the ground then the beginner player without these skills/perks.

OK So as you can see in the screen shot look at all the green marks on the ground. Just to MY right is the bear I had been tracking he's dead. So you can see how close all these things are to where I am.

It took me 15-20 minutes of running around trying to find these things because all the green you see on the ground was not there. I had already tracked the bear for about 5 minutes or so without issue but when I got to the last track on my huntermate all the tracks just vanished. Spent 15-20 minutes running out at least 100M's in all direction with nothing showing up except other animals tracks.

I then crossed over the bears tracks (the ones on huntermate) heading south then looped to the left and headed back toward the last mark and bam all of a sudden al the tracks you see just showed up out of no where along with the bear which was maybe 25M's at most from the last track mark I had found.

It's almost like there is some huge amount of lag going on where tracks can sometimes show up and sometimes like now not show up for ages.

I had something like this in the past back when we had animals vanishing and teleporting and such. This was a moose I had killed and tracked to this spot but as you can see I can not harvest the moose at all.

Shortly after the video ends after a total of about 15-20 minutes of trying to harvest it the moose carcass sort of teleported up the hill about 25m's maybe 50m's and was still dead but now it was havestable

Just makes me wonder if some bug in the game is causing a major amount of lag sometimes where things like tracks and animal carcasses don't show up for quite some time like in the moose video above.

We have been noticing the same issue.
Sometimes no tracks at all but we can see blood. Other times we see blood and track leading to the point of being shot but nothing after being shot. No blood or tracks Past the point of the animal being injured. My Nephew and I both have the same issue. Switching maps clears it up for a while but then it comes back within a few hours. We never had this issue until the save game patch. I have also been crashing since the patch. Not constantly, but it's notably more then ever before.
Hidden Jun 29, 2019 @ 12:38am
This is absurd, having the same issue.

No tracks are appearing save for the blood that i can find. These issues are gamebreaking.

Last time i came to play which was ages ago animals wouldnt spawn into the map and they were immune to damage, along with tracks disappearing.

Free weekends re the dumbest idea for these devs, but thank god i see the truth behind this game. this is honestly the worst hunting game I've ever played.

It breeds hours and hours of frustration and that's about it. These devs should find new work.

I realized that you have to use the flashlight for tracks to appear at night. I thought it was a bug as well. I haven't experienced missing tracks at daytime.
Casey Jun 21, 2020 @ 10:47pm
I'm experiencing missing tracks in the daytime. Cheelah area several times: Cheelah Hiking Village twice and the most obvious. What seems to be happening is tracking queues hit a limit and no new tracks (tracks, droppings, blood) appear. All the old tracks stay. The second time, an entire herd of deer (blacktail I think) moved back and forth with no tracks. I shot 3 deer with no blood marks, the first about 20 yards away. It seems once a limit is hit the only solution is to restart the game.

Bought the game on sale with all DLCs because i loved the game on XBOX, there were no bugs like this. But the PC version ... At first everything works fine, first one or two kills, no problem. And then... no tracks and no blood. If I'm lucky, i find the body nearby, but most often i do not.
Only thing that helps is restart the game, first kil,l everything works fine, next does not, restart, repeat... this really needs to be fixed!

can add, also cheelah region, tracks of other animals are there, no tracks or blood from the animal i shot...

ust lost two kills in cheelah, near the hiking village. I exited to menu and then came back in and the hunters presence disappeared from the kills, but still no tracks.
