Lost progress | Save game reset

Hello Hunters,

Some players reported to us that they experienced a save game reset and lost their progress after a game crash and/or PC freeze. We are currently investigating this issue.

If you are affected by this and have lost your progress please let us know about the following:

• Did your game crash or did your whole PC freeze and had to be restarted?
  
• Did you lose all progress (level, money, perks, unlocks) or only parts of it?
  
• Can you remember where the crash happened (coordinates) and which action you were performing in the game (maybe using a caller or binoculars)?

Until we have a solution for the issue please make sure to make a copy of your save game folder every now and then. The default path for it is:

C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Avalanche Studios\theHunter Call of the Wild

You can just copy the folder called 'saves' to a different location and if your save game gets affected by this you copy it back. I know, it's not an elegant solution but for the time being it is the only way to fully protect your progress until we found a full solution for the problem.

I'm unsure whether this is a bug or if it's a gameplay mechanic but, on the Hirsch map, any hunting structures I've paid to build are deconstructed in my next session which requires me to pay to construct them again.

Remember: If you disable Steam Cloud Sync, always make a backup of your Avalanche Studios Folder. If you Unistall the game you will lost your save.
Do it after each session.

My PC crashed when I pulled a 338 to the hirshfelden outpost at the top right seems to me, I can no longer continue my share,:google translate sry:)

I lost everything after 230hrs, at lvl 28. I don't remember now what I was doing or what happened at the time. I was having many pc freezes and games crashes but don't know which lost my progress. I am now back to lvl 13 and am having way fewer crashes and freezes after starting a new game. Still losing tracks after 4-5 hrs. of play though. I am usually carrying my binos while walking, as I can't stand the annoying animations while holding anything else.

PC froze and restarted.

Lost all Hunting Profile Stats. Harvest/Animals Scared/Shots Fired/Accuracy/Longest Shot
Lost all explored areas on map (map is completely dark again.)
Did not lose Skills/Perks/XP/money/leaderboard position/

Was just Hunting, walking in Layton Lakes Map

Very sad situation, and I guess no way to recover any of it.

Hello. This happened to me before. Ingame I wanted to open the MAP (M) in Layton Lake. The game crashed and started automatically a new MAP on Hirshfelden. I thought someone was hacking my PC

So we dont get our stuff back? Horrible for a " FULL RELEASE GAME " This is more like a early access game. maybe you guys should have released it as such... Unreal for this to happen.



Hunring bear with a bow. Came across a elk and shot it and it froze, Couldnt alt f4 or alt ctrl del to get out. had to reset comp.



You guys really need to figure this stuff out quick. Fan base is dying off quick.

I have a related problem that may have been self inflicted. I changed my default local storage location in windows because i did not realize that it was set to OneDrive (i recently built a new PC) to a C drive location. In the process my history log file now only goes back to that point. Is there a way for the two files (i backed up the old history.log file) to be merged together so i can restore my full history? Ironically, my hunter profile did not seem to be affected by this action so there must be a slightly different handling of that file.

140 hours playing this game hard.
Game crash. i restart the computer. Steam ask me there is a conflict with my save. I choose to load the save of my computer (2 hours ago). I start the game ==> account lost.

i have now played the game without brake and sleep for now 48 hours reached level 12 and almost every deer an animals on.. when i got a nice Roosewood elk kill it wouldnt let harvest it? i desided to try a now roosewood elk. 4 same type animal and same result. then it began to server-lack and efter that, my progress (lookout post, hunt towers ect. was gone) but the worst thing was my hunt histiry was also gone! EVERYTHING FROM IT!, only 4 different kills now but still level 12? :-/... and now i can load game again but no animals kan be killed not even after 3-4 mags with 5-6 shot per piece. and if i try to go over to the animal, who doesnt even se me? just disapperes out of the thin air? :-(

Hello. I lose all my levels and my money I began again 4 times the game and I have him of installed then reinstalled but I always meet the same problem. That I have to make.

Gezzzzzzzzz... My brother and i was playing and when he was going to Confirm trophy.. PC crashed and all was lost.. Start over from scratch.. FULL RELEASE GAME RIGHT!

Is there anyway the he can use my save?.

I just had this bug happen to me.After 43hrs of play I no longer have the continue option.

My PC froze about a second after killing a bison with the .338. My first kill with that gun since I had just saved up enough to buy it. I was north of the west most outpost in konigsberg when my PC froze. I had to restart the pc.

This is very disapointing, progression is super slow in this game and losing 40+ of progress is aboslutely crushing. I don't think I can play this can until my save is restored.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because 99% of people don't check forums every day. It's not like the game has an ingame message to warn you. The only reason anyone is even in this thread is because they lost their progress in the first place, and it's already too late.
