This game is decimating my cpu

every time i play this game it pushes my cpu to 100% usage every now and then with no other programs open and the temps get up to 91. I even turned my oc off and undervolted and it still got extremely hot.

Hardware issue... game has nothing to do with it dude. I play on 3rd gen i7 core with GTX 1080 and it runs just fine. Issue is fps drops like hell on full hd while aiming at moving groups of animals, and in Revontuli it sometimes freezes when flock of 20-30 birds takes off, so I play at lower res. Salesman who sold me my new laptop said that new machines in "affordable" price range are crappy nowdays and he was right. Buy old refurbished unit and be happy. Or invest in REAL PC, but they start around 2k $. Bonus is that full hd monitor from refurbishment will cost ya like 100$. And they kick ass. I play on 24" full hd LED LG. When I take my lap it is like 1/3 of my screen and it runs slower than stationary PC. Kinda angry, payed for it more than duble the price of the refurbished one. But I plan to travel a lot, so I need portable unit. And it has 11th gen i5 core with GTX 1650, so it should (in theory) kick ass of my old machine. And, yeah, surprise! Hunter crashes like hell on it.

i have a 3090 and a 10700k and the more fps i was getting the more my cpu was killing itself. i limited it to 90 so it didn't get up that high anymore and the temps went down by around 12 degrees.

So it WAS hardware issue anyway. You almost killed your PC dude... Read manuals next time.

i think this is just a game issue, been doing more testing and as long as the game doesnt get to 100% gpu it never spikes the cpu usage. i'm able to lock it at 120 fps and with my overclocks back on without it ever getting to 100% gpu and my cpu usage hasn't gone above 30% yet with a max temp of 75. on all the other games i play it's never had this behavior so it's quite odd.

I think the problem is your cooling solution. I have a 10700k @ 5.1Ghz, all cores and an RTX 3070 and have never seen cpu temps above 60c.

i'll be getting a new case in a few days so i'll be able to reapply my thermal paste. i'll check up on the temps when i can.

I can confirm that's something is wrong with this game. 80% CPU usage (13600k) is definitely not normal while playing video games.

I'm hitting like 10-35% in other games, paired with 32GB 6000MHZ CL32 Ram.

I'm on a Ryzen 7 2700x and RTX 3070 I never seen CPU usage that high at all on this game, it hovers around 30 - 50% and GPU usage is between 95 - 100% and average between the range of 90 - 130fps at 1080p max detail depending where I am, its normal here

so something is wrong with your system its not the game

Games using the Avalanche Open World Engine (i.e., any game from Avalanche Studios Group) typically run very hot. I use MSI Afterburner (free) to limit my GPU temp to 76 (instead of high 80s and 90s), and still get about 80 FPS on Ultra.

Yea this is true, I have to turn the heater off in my room when I play cause my computer gets it warm enough when I game lol

Something strange is going on here. I'm running an i7-10700k with a 3070 and my cpu usage never exceeds 20%. I'm using a mid-size air cooler and my cpu generally runs in the high 50's for temperature. I run 1440p and everything on max, volumetric fog off, I average around 100 - 110 fps.
