Here you can find a list of steps to try out in order to troubleshoot issues with crashes (game and PC) as well as connection and performance problems. These points were able to fix issues for a number of players already.

Experiencing game crashes on start up issues?

Try and enable Screen Space Reflections. You can do this in the graphics settings in the main menu, in game menu or through the following method out of game:
C:\Users\USER\Documents\Avalanche Studios\theHunter Call of the Wild\Saves\settings\STEAMUSERID>settings.json then set "GraphicsSSReflection": 0 to 1

Make sure you are using the latest graphics driver:

• GeForce Experience: {HIVATKOZÁS TÖRÖLVE}http://www.geforce.com/geforce-experience/download
  
• AMD: {HIVATKOZÁS TÖRÖLVE}http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

Microsoft Visual C++

• Uninstall Microsoft visual c++ 2015
  
• Reboot your PC
  
• Reinstall it from Microsoft website - {HIVATKOZÁS TÖRÖLVE}https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145
  
• Launch the game again.

Keep Steam online, but disable the Steam cloud sync. via Properties -> Updates

Verify the integrity of the game cache:

• Via Steam open your game library. Games/View Game Library
  
• Open the games properties. Right click game title the Hunter Call of the Wild. Bottom of the menu click on Properties.
  
• Select the LOCAL FILES tab and click on VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME CACHE...
  
• Exit Steam, Reboot your machine and try launching a game session.

Errors with api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll

This error is mostly connected to the version of WinSDK. The correct version for theHunter: Call of the Wild is WinSDK-10.0.10586.0.0 which can be downloaded from Microsofts website: {HIVATKOZÁS TÖRÖLVE}https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8279

Performance and FPS issues on Laptops

If you are experiencing severe graphic issues or FPS drops on a Laptop please make sure that the game uses your graphics card and not the on-board graphics chipset as this will more than likely not be able to run the game properly. To find out how to check this for your individual machine please contact the manufacturer or seller of the laptop.

Misc

• Turn off Steam overlay
  
• Set the game to borderless windowed mode. You do so by right clicking the game in your library, opening the properties, then click on 'Set start perimeter' and type in /borderless there.
  
• Turn down all visual effects and details in the game, play for a while and enable them again one by one and continue to monitor the stability.
  
• If you are using multiple monitors please try and set it to single display mode.
  
• Disable background programs for recording and screen capturing
  
• Temporarily disable your antivirus software

If you contact them please make sure to attach a MSinfo32 file to your ticket:

• On the keyboard, hold down the WINDOWS key and then hit R.
  
• In the Run window, type MSINFO32 and then click OK.
  
• In the System Information window, click the File menu and then Save.
  
• Set the desired folder to save to, enter a filename, and then click Save.

When launching the game I just get stuck in a Performing online login loop that keeps flashing on the screen before I can get to the menu. Please help me figure out how to login or even just get past this.

I've tried to play the game after a break and lots of new updates. Game freezes on loading screen and won't even let forcefully shut it down.

I recently got a new computer that had Windows 11 and I could play it easily .... except I had an AMD MOBO/CPU combo that disconnected USB ports .... so I had to return it and upgrade to a better more expensive computer with Windows 10 Pro. Now I get stuck with that flashing nonsense upon load-up. Do you know if there's been a fix? I have plenty of other games to play, but this one is relaxing for my anxious mind haha

Try this, I JUST got mine to work last night, not sure if it still works but I loaded up my game multiple times last night and even bought and downloaded new DLCs and it still worked:

Then I verified the integrity of the files, then reset my PC. It worked! Idk if this will fix it for you, but it did for me... I'm going to see if it still runs

I just don't get the lack of support I've received from Avalanche...I've provided them with the requested information they asked just to come back with common sense solutions that any gamer knows to check first before reaching out to them...I have a year old gaming pc which I've benched marked and it far exceeds the game recommendations. Just a week ago after Avalanche decided to close my case....game was miraculously working without a hitch and now this I'm back to having the same issues....SO ANNOYED.

- However, I did noticed the same issue for the first time on a different game (F1 2021) I purchased from Steam...coincidence or just got lucky?

Look here, tl;dr: PS4 controller plugged in caused CTD when launching the game. Unplugging the PS4 controller resolved it. Report it to the delevoper please!

I have had the game since its launch in 2017...and have diligently been a fan of playing..i started out on a laptop..then upgraded last year to a home PC..the home PC is 5x more powerful all around than the laptop...and yet this game crashes...i managed to restart in Layton ad get to level20 between Layton/Hirschfield/Russia?Africa..trying to work many mission to get 1 single gun needed in Layton...then Mississippi came out and i went there..nothing but constant crashes..i can't even deliver the GD heater..and with all that I am back to "new game' because of "corrupt save game files"...had to restart new game over 7 times now...all starting in MS and all crashing either when it first lads or shortly after the first mission is complete...for the FIRST TIME i managed to discover the mission LIZARD BRAIN and it crashed in the middle of the warden explaining it.

Wow, so i followed the advice on this opening post of this thread. Result: The game is not even starting anymore. It did before, with constant CtDs...

So, to sum this up: The game gets more and more buggy every patch/update and now you even enhance the damage with crappy advice. Come on, is this a joke?

I recently re-installed the game , and now it freezes in the startup screen ... only the music is playing but that's it ... i did try the fix recommended here wit the settings.json file ... only that i have no settings.json file in my saves\setings\... folder .... ffs ...this is spupid ...
