7.62x54 ammo
Do the developers know that the 7.62x54 does not have a ballistic tip ammo option? It's the only rifle cartridge that doesn't have two options for ammo. It currently only has soft point ammo. Which is an utter shame, because you can hunt level 3 animals with the rifle, but anything shot wanders off for hundreds of yards to miles before it drops. We need an ammo option that has max penetration.

Strange, I'm consistently getting 100% QK on Whitetail. What animals are you hunting with the Solo? The Solo is shooting quite a bit to the right due to it's misaligned scope. Maybe that is what's causing your problems?

There are so many sameish rifles in the game. I kinda like the way the Solo is different.

Go into your 7.62x54 mm Ammo options. Do you have two different bullet types, or just one like I do? I have only soft point ammo. No polymer tip ammo. It's the only rifle that doesn't have polymer tip ammo, which is what gives the best penetration. Soft Points act like the hollow point ammo, with max expansion, but little penetration. I think you are misunderstanding what I am bringing up.
I personally always thought the round in game felt too weak. Considering this is the dreaded round fired by the AK's which is halmarked for its armor piercing capabilities ....it feels too weak. I nvr had the impression playing WW2 games that the M-1 Garand's 30-06 was a "far superior" round compared to the Moisn-Nagant's 7.62's but in this game they do feel far superior. Vasily Zaytsev would not approve. Add the SVD Dragunov and revise this ammo's spec please.

This round is not the round used in the AK family of rifles. It's used in the Moisin Nagant, Draganov , SVD, SV-98 sniper rifles, the SVT-40, and the PKM light machine gun. Plus a few other rifles in these family of rifles. The calibers used in the AK series of rifles are the 7.62x39 mm and the 5.45 x 39 mm. The 7.62x54R round is longer than the AK round, and it has the power of a 30-06. It's also a rimmed cartridge. Whereas the 7.62x39 Warsaw is a short rimless cartridge. The 7.62x54 Russian is vastly underpowered in this game. I've shot them my whole life. They are everything a 30-06 is for power, penetration and accuracy. I totally agree with you. We should have this ammo's specs revised, and have a modern rifle for it, like the SVD.

On thing I forgot to mention. The Simonov SKS was first developed to fire the larger 7.62x54R round. They later changed it to fire the new to the battlefield at the time, shorter 7.62x39 Warsaw round. So SKS rifles are built to withstand pressures of the larger rimmed Russian round, but are firing the much smaller, much less powerful 7.62 Warsaw round. It's basically build a 30-06, then re-barrel the rifle to fire .300 Blackout or .30-30 Win. Thus, the SKS is the most over built, indestructible semi auto rifle you will ever have the pleasure to shoot. You never have to worry about things like hot rounds doing damage to the weapon.
Thx for clearing that up for me, and agreeing in general. So, to put it into McDonald's terms for my fellow McHunters here like myself, theres actually more McMass to this round we fire in CotW then compared to this "AK" I was just carrying on about back there.. Our Moisin rounds...due to its elongated cylindrical body structure of 15McMm...Meaning there's 15 more McMillimeters of material to add greater McMass... it therefore should do McMore damage to them :MMForFun:

I think as well the M1 being semi in the game.... and the moisin being bolt....its just totally backward to a game sence too like. the semi gun with more chances should be the weaker gun, where the bolt action 2 shotter at very most should have the power to bring that animal down.

I personally dislike the games version of it...seems like the carbine version or something ... its just to short....and maybe it is a carbine version as i dont kno much about makes and models honestly but ..... but the bolt feature should by default render it better then likewise semi auto counterparts

It's massively under powered in this game. As is the 30-06, .270 and 6.5 rifles. Why the .308 hits harder than the 30-06 in this game is a mystery, known only to the developers. I don't think the developers know very much about ballistics, and calibre statistics in general. For instance the .270 is used around the world to both varmint hunt, and hunt big game. Elk are taken with ease with the cartridge if you use heavier bullets. When loaded with lighter weight bullets, it becomes one of the flattest shooting coyote, prairie dog rigs out there. So it should be classed from level 2 to level 8 animals in the game. More so, it should hammer them, not pew, pew and the Deer runs 1,200 yards before dying after a double lung tap.

I was playing Te Awaroa with the mosin because I thought it would be perfect for the map, since most everything is 3-6. However, it was disappointing against red deer imo because of the lack of penetration.

I am hoping they make the weapon more appealing by adding a FMJ round or something, which would be accurate I think. Commenting because please consider making the mosin (it’s in game equivalent I forgot the name) better!
