I can't hunt ethically with this arrow (350 gr)
Please give this arrow more penetration or give us a new arrow with adequate power.
Problem is clearly seen in the photos below. All shots were made within the effective range specified in the description but none of them hit vital organs. ı know frontal shots bad but from that distances it must be reach lungs at least.

If I had thrown a stone from 6 meter it would probably have died quicker.

For the meantime, you're better doing broadside shots to the lungs with the 350s. I do agree they are a bit under-powered for frontal shots. But they work pretty well with broadside.

Even doing broadside shots with the 350s inside 20m is only just touching the 1 lung, if the animal is slightly quartering away or toward, you will more than likely not hit a vital at all.

For me the 350 arrows should be Class 1 only and the 540 gr arrows should be Classes 2-6, and the 700s 7-9.

I agree, in fact all the 300/350 grain arrows penetrate way too little. Compared to the next heavier arrow they are pathetic in performance, even on foxes and other similar animals, making them near useless. Fixing this would be really easy, as all is needed is a small boost to its penetration. Many players have already asked for this, but this very needed change hasn't really made it to a patch yet...

Btw, good shots, VulDrog. Pity about the poor performance of the arrows.

Thank you for opinion but broadside or not it isn't working well in my perspective. I made a perfect shot in 15 meter, animal die almost 200 meters away.

Also I don't get the logic behind arrow weight and penetration value relationship ;
300 Gr = 10 Penetration / 350 Gr = 15 P. / 420 Gr 50 P. How is it possible ?
You can shoot lvl 2-3 animals with rangefinder compound bow with more than three times powerfull arrows compare to unsighted longbows arrows it's not fair either.

Thank you MWarmy and Armus I %100 agree with you.

I have a suggestion… to keep it simple I'll just use the numbers provided by the in-game store and use a penetration vs weight value.

//COTW arrows - gr = grains, p = penetration
Current arrows/bolts (penetration/weight):
300 gr, 10 p -> 0.03
420 gr, 50 p -> 0.12
600 gr, 90 p -> 0.15

Suggested value:
300 gr x 0.09 = 27 p
or
300 gr x 0.08 = 24 p

Current classic arrows:
350 gr, 15 p -> 0.04
540 gr, 75 p -> 0.14
700 gr, 90 p -> 0.13

Suggested value:
350 gr x 0.11 = ~38 p
or
350 gr x 0.10 = 35 p

Overview of rebalanced arrows:
Arrows/bolts:
300 gr, 27 p -> 0.09
420 gr, 50 p -> 0.12
600 gr, 90 p -> 0.15

Classic arrows:
350 gr, 38 p -> 0.11
540 gr, 75 p -> 0.14
700 gr, 90 p -> 0.13

Since I don't know the actual values used this is the best I can offer. I chose the higher values (between the two suggested) for the 300/350 gr arrows because overall I think this will offer the best results in practice.

Great suggestion Armus also you can get similar results with simple cross multiply but I like your way more. I've done some research about real arrow ballistics, penetration values between 350-540 arrows completely irrelevent. In game 300 gr arrows don't have broadhead tip for penetration I get it but traditional arrows all of them have broadheads so their values does not make sense, neither in terms of ballistics nor game balance. I hope they do something about it...

Personally I've never used arrows with such a tip, but I've seen a few videos of them and on small animals they seemed to exit fully or partially, even with relatively weak bows. So I am not sure if that tip is meant to lower penetration as much as maybe cause more damage/bleeding on the animal. Whichever way, they surely do not perform in the game as I've seen in some of these videos. Although it's true I've only watched a couple of them a while ago and maybe I've stumbled on some extremes, I don't know for certain.

As I've said, the problem with these arrows was reported several times over the years, so it obiously isn't a priority for the developers. I wouldn't hold my breath on them fixing it any time soon, but thanks for reporting it on the forums.

You can send them a message about these concerns via this page, if you want:
