Currently I find it almost impossible to hunt rabbits because they spook outside of shotgun range. In real life rabbits tend to sit still until you almost step on them before running. You could set up with a .22LR and plink one here or there but by far the most common method is to flush them and shoot them on the run with shotguns.
Dogs are best for this so a pointer/flusher dog DLC would be a good time to change bunny behavior.
I would make rabbits' alert or alarmed state to freeze in place and make spotting them with binos more difficult (you have to zoom in more before the prompt to spot appears). Also make the duration of the spot highlight fade very quickly to simulate how hard it is to see rabbits when they don't want to be seen.
They could also add a timer so a rabbit will switch to flee state after being in alarmed for a certain amount of time. This would benefit the solo hunter that might otherwise walk right by rabbits all day.
