not judging you or your choices but not everyone considers using a supressed firearm sportsman like unless one is in desperate need of one and cant stand loud noises etc or young children

why it maybe be added , the use if supressors is not generaly accept as sportmans like ,and in CotW we are hunting for sport , if we were hunting for food then maybe it would be more acceptable , but the chances are as high as getting a M240 lmg in game.

It would make the game to easy.

Suppressors / silencers what ever you want to call them, have to been asked for time and time again. This argument goes way back to the earliest days of classic.

If you want to be silent, use the bows!
They require greater skill and patients to use then a rifle, handgun or shotgun. That’s why they get the reduced spook benefits. Plus they are quieter than a gun in rl.
The game promotes patients and skill. Silencers are on the same line as night vision goggles. It's military equipment, not for civy’s. With a gun, as soon as you see an animal, you can aim and shoot, no challenge.

With the bows you need to get close or make them get close to you. The animals have better sight, hearing and smell, so it’s down to your skill and understanding of the situation to gain the advantage

Then you need to consider it's not just the US. How do other countries view silencers / suppressors / quieter’s.

You might be able to hunt animals with a silencer on your gun while wearing night vision goggles in the US but not in other countries.

Are silencers aloud in the Nordic countries?
I ask because the game is made by Nordics, not American’s.

BINGO :)

The players would be over powered.

I have a theory that the classic dev's tested suppressors in the early days of classic.

When i started playing classic there were 4 reserves.

Whitehart Island
Logger's point
Settler's Creek
Redfeather Falls

They felt like places in America

I reckon the dev's made and tested suppressors, and quickly realised, it made players to OP and they tester wiped out to many animals.

And yup, where's the sport.

I don´t see why there shouldn´t be silencers and/or nightvision for scopes ect., as long as players are not forced use them. I always looked on that game as sort of a simulator and those things are used legally for hunting in a lot of countries (also Germany #Hirschfelden). Nevertheless I understand that there might result problems with some mechanics in game so that the player will be OP.

Some consider it not sportsman like, other don´t. I´m from Germany and our hunters are allowed to hunt with suppressors but mostly because our country is small and hunters often times have to hunt very close to settlements and the purpose is to not make so much noise especially because night hunting is the norm here.

The use of nightvision devices and suppressors is quite normal here because noone wants to hear bang bang all the time in his backyard and at daytime.

But I understand other countries and their laws and also why it is not available ingame, because it could make the game too easy.

But supressor/silencer only supress BANG from gas expansion, supersonic crack is impossible to remove and hunting ammunition is supersonic. You are still going to spook other animals.

Indeed.

+1 on suppressors.
The ethical argument went out the window with night vision equipment and semi-auto rifles.

It's a common tool in a lot of countries.

No, Never.

Guns
It would be cool if we could buy silencer to any rifle and attatch it and then make another sound for the weapon when you have the silencer on

Do real wild hunters use silencers? Not known to me.

Well, I use a can. Now you know. Although I am not really a wild hunter, but a calm hunter.

Where I live you are encouraged to use a suppressor on your rifles by the powers that be. It's not mandatory but it is encouraged. As for ethical hunting? The object is to put some food on the table by whatever means available, but to do it in such a way as the kill to be as quick and humane as possible. Is actually killing something ever humane?? I personally am not a Disney hunter who looks on my prey as Bambi etc. If you do, you starve. I've yet to meet a hunter who feeds his family on ethics, but that doesn't mean you don't do the best you can. :steamhappy:
