Suppressors / silencers what ever you want to call them, have to been asked for time and time again. This argument goes way back to the earliest days of classic.
If you want to be silent, use the bows!
They require greater skill and patients to use then a rifle, handgun or shotgun. That’s why they get the reduced spook benefits. Plus they are quieter than a gun in rl.
The game promotes patients and skill. Silencers are on the same line as night vision goggles. It's military equipment, not for civy’s. With a gun, as soon as you see an animal, you can aim and shoot, no challenge.
With the bows you need to get close or make them get close to you. The animals have better sight, hearing and smell, so it’s down to your skill and understanding of the situation to gain the advantage
Then you need to consider it's not just the US. How do other countries view silencers / suppressors / quieter’s.
You might be able to hunt animals with a silencer on your gun while wearing night vision goggles in the US but not in other countries.
Are silencers aloud in the Nordic countries?
I ask because the game is made by Nordics, not American’s.
from what ive seen for the most part were not allowed to use suppressed weapons or night vision goggles its not part of fair chase
BINGO :)
The players would be over powered.
I have a theory that the classic dev's tested suppressors in the early days of classic.
When i started playing classic there were 4 reserves.
Whitehart Island
Logger's point
Settler's Creek
Redfeather Falls
They felt like places in America
I reckon the dev's made and tested suppressors, and quickly realised, it made players to OP and they tester wiped out to many animals.
And yup, where's the sport.
The use of nightvision devices and suppressors is quite normal here because noone wants to hear bang bang all the time in his backyard and at daytime.
But I understand other countries and their laws and also why it is not available ingame, because it could make the game too easy.
The ethical argument went out the window with night vision equipment and semi-auto rifles.
It's a common tool in a lot of countries.
