Grouse on the new map
Just like jaxy I think the grouse spook way to easy. They should hide up and then flush when you get close that’s how every grouse species I’ve hunted in real life acts, at the very least not fly off until I’m in shotgun range.

The sage grouse around here will almost let you step on them. Let me tell you, they'll scare the life out of you when they fly up right in your face and you're not paying attention. I don't know about the grouse in Finland.

It's the same with pheasants. These things are dumb as a brick in real life. See them around my property quite often and you can get pretty close without them running. Yet in the game they have super human hearing and bolt like the damn road runner when you're 200m away.

Had some black grouses flee when they spotted me from like 200m away over a field so pretty spot on.

i have almost stepped on Blue Grouse elk hunting. That will get your heart running. They tend to hunker down until you are on top of them. I can't imagine how many i have walked right by.
the Ruffed grouse are so dumb i am surprised they still exist. Fly like chickens and always seem to prefer to run.
Never hunted or been around the black grouse.

I'd have to agree on this one. All of the grouse spook way too easily. I mainly hunt willow and rock ptarmigan in real life, and by late spring they never spook this easy. They will "hug the ground" in flocks and not take to the wings before you're 5-10 meters away. The only close to accurately represented bird in the game is the Western Capercaillie. It does run on the ground as expected (albeit a bit far) before flying just as in real life. I've completely given up on rock grouse as I find it easier to bow hunt deer. It shouldnt be that way.

The Devs are programmers not hunters that has been obvious from the beginning. They know very little about animals and ballistics.

I've spent a lot of time irl hunting ruffed grouse and know for a fact that they'll hold cover until you're right on top of them. Often they won't move at all if they think you don't see them. Biggest rush in the world when they flush 10 feet away from you.

My experience also. Grouse hunting has always been one of my favorites.

I don't have issues with the black grouse but the capers, those things don't always run. Those guys are sassy and will come up in your face xD yet in game they book it before I can ever spot em.
