Night Vision optics good and bad

The night vision binoculars are really nice. The night vision scope is blurry and there's no way you can use it to take anything out to the range of the binoculars. Why have binoculars that go out to 3-4-500 meters with a scope that get's iffy at 200m?

Also. why are all the optics so filthy? My Dad would call off the hunting trip if my optics weren't clean.

they suck in any kind of mist or fog or rain
are they supposed to be IR? why can't I see body heat?
its monochrome, not based on heat sig at all in my estimation
