But since I have had problems with tracks disappearing or being obstructed when they shouldn't be, I turned tracks back on. I have taken a screenshot with some deer dropping INSIDE of a stone that I would have never discovered if they didn't glow.
Or blood UNDER the grass or leaves when it couldn't have possible gone under (and that's not even mentioning the lack of proper blood color/texture depending on where you hit the animal, hell, a short description like lung/heart/liver/gut when activating the track would already be enough).
Edit: Forgot also to say that sometimes the animal will just randomly change direction or teleport a good distance away for no reason, and losing tracks is really not fun if it happens due to a bug. If this game were bug-free I would certainly turn off everything again.
A nice compromise would be if instead of the "examine tracks" prompt, make the track glow only when you stand on it. You can click for more information if you want while it's glowing.
Of course the option to turn it off completely should be there as well.
I hate this text. Tracks are everywhere.
Yeah for sure this is really abnoxious... Also when you are with your binoculars trying to see if you can spot anything, and you have this "SPOT ANIMAL" right in front of you, when you did not even see the animal yet.
I just feel like the hand holding is too strong. In addition to that, a lot of the time, the tracks actually do not show (even though the "Examine track" prompts).
I actually really enjoy looking for tracks, it is really rewarding when you are able to find one and follow it to the animal. Although very hard.
Also, when you play without the HUD, you cannot see your ZEROIng distance! You have to put the HUD back on to check where you are at... Really annoying ! :D
To sum it up : I wish there was a hardcore mode that was well designed.
I really hate those color neon lights footprints and silhouettes, even those messages in the middle of the screen on every interactive element.
People dont understand the beauty and immersion of this wonderful game, the 99% of players plays with all those horrible disco lights, rushing and killing everything. They are missing the real essence.
I am very glad to find others who also appreciate the total immersion of this game.
Developers must focus on our requests, but we are a very little portion of the whole playerbase.
