Bullet Wounds and Blood
I’ve tried to keep up with the streams but I haven’t had the time to watch them in their entirety - But have the devs stated if they’re going to fix the bullet wounds disappearing after a minute or less? I love being able to actually see where I shot the animal before picking it up, it just adds to the realism.

I would also love to see the ability to pick up the animal after it’s dead (just like theHunter Classic).

Lastly. Have they mentioned if they will change the color of the blood based on where you shot the animal, and also add more variety to the blood splatter rather than it just look like the same splash for every splatter?

theHunter Classic did a great job with blood splatter and color, based on where you shot the animal. It gives power to the player by allowing them to discover where they shot the animal and not just letting your Huntermate do all the work.

This isn't Classic. I don't want it to be Classic. If you make a good shot you don't need a bullet hole to tell you where you hit it.

They added bullet holes because people requested them, mainly real life hunters as it added to the realism. So if they added them to begin with, what’s the point if they disappear before you can even see them.

That’s my question to the developers.

Seriously? Sheesh man...where Classic shined, why NOT let that translate into this modern endeavor? No one wants it to BE Classic, but certain standards are just that; standards. Regressing from implementing cool, realistic aesthetics for the sake of not wanting to be too similar to Classic is nonsense.

And, essentially, this is all I'm trying to point out in this post. If you don't care about these details, that's no problem. But plenty of people do, and when the developers do it half heartedly, we need to address it and hopefully get a response.

+1 Im all about more immersion. To some this might feel like an insignificant detail, but the same could be said about anisotropic filtering: the fine details do matter and thats why we have them.

I haven't seen wounds vanish on animals, at least not EU Bison in Hirsch (just finished the Bhandari chain a week or 2 ago) and since then i've been exploring CC, none of those animals i've harvest were missing the wound mark. Animal specific maybe?

back to the OP why would we want to pick up the animal? we can't do anything with them, at least not yet, so there's no real point to that is there?

No mention of blood color change that i know of, but i rarely get to watch their streams as they always happen during work hours and twitch and whatnot are blocked here. Anyway, you get that info from the bloodsplatter track, not the huntermate.

When they first implemented bullet wounds last year, they said during a stream that at this point they disappear, unless they have confirmed otherwise later on. I've witnessed them disappear on fox, carribou, bear, and whitetail.

The reason to pick up the animals is so that you can position them on the ground however you want, so you can take your own unique trophy shot. It's something Classic did very well, it gives the player even more freedom to make their hunt special

Bullet wounds have always disappeared after a short period. I agree it would be nice if they were persistent until the animal was harvested.

Yes, a proper photo mode is a fairly highly requested feature and I would love it. Even just being able to move the animals like you suggested would be helpful.

I’m hoping they address these details! Trophy photos in game would be so awesome. Also no point of having bullet wounds if we can’t even see them.

makes sense. +1 for picking them up for photos or a photo mode.

I guess i harvest my kills fast enough i don't see the wounds vanish, playing last night i didn't think to wait to see if they would.

The wounds disappear after 2 minutes. Long enough for most I suppose but would still be nice to have them persist until harvest.
Mickey_Man Jan 30, 2020 @ 12:11pm
And most of the time, players won’t get to their downed animal within a minute. The animal could be a tough one and still run a distance with a vital shot, or the player might try and harvest another animal in the mean time. There’s multiple factors. Self explanatory.

I was just thinking of another thing close to this topic that bothers. Has anyone noticed how funky the way (and consistently the same) the animals look when dead on the ground? They all die in almost the exact same position (legs underneath their bodies pointed back). They already have some ragdoll elements implemented for the animals, it would be so nice to have random death poses for the animals based on terrain, speed the animal was running when died, etc

Agreed! That's a great idea.
