Weapon Ideas.
Just a couple ideas i had for new guns in general. Feel free to leave other suggestions in the comments

Rifles
-a musket. An oddball weapon for the novelty
-Barret like .50cal. also kinda novelty but effective for elephants ;)

Shotguns
- .410 bolt action. .410 is a slight odd shotgun size as its measured in caliber rather than guages like other shotguns. A .410 is usually used for tweety birds(cardinals, jays, larks or other birds you really wouldnt think to eat, etc) with a slug round its suitable for medium deer at under 75 yards. Specifically would like a bolt action as its an interesting design choice used by Mossberg sometimes. also was my first shotgun.
- 12guage single barrel break action This is definitely a more novelty oriented idea. However, i personally like the idea of a really basic shotgun. If you wanted to give this shotgun a niche id say make it have a 24-26inch barrel if the other shotguns are 22 inches. Make it less spread and longer effective range

Handguns
-Ruger mark IV like pistol. a simple .22lr pistol. great for rabbits
- A m1911- good for taking down coyotes and with an entire magazine you can defend yourself from bears. If this does become a reality, i personally would enjoy a fancy new looking version and a grandpas service weapon looking version

Bows
- sight for recurve bow
- An antique recurve style crossbow.

A musket is an interesting idea. But than we could have also modern muzzleloaders.
I don't like the idea of the Barret. I mean, it's a semi-auto .50 cal. Calibre can be 0k if they ever choose to add some crazy big animals, but if so I'd prefer a Tac-50, or something alike.

Interesting weapon. I've no love for them (shotguns) though, as they are not very accurate.

A Ruger IV would fit nicely. Since it's light it could easily be taken with you.
Instead of an M1911 I would suggest an old school revolver in .45 or .44 calibre.

I would love to see some kind of sight on the recurve!

that .50cal will be soooo damn good if the devs miraculously brought in the big 5. but its all just a daydream as of now.

I wish the devs would add all the weapons to the PC version that are in the Xbox/PS4 versions. There are a couple of reskins missing on PC. So much for a like-for-like game on all platforms.

I've never, ever seen a sight on a traditional Chinese/Mongolian recurve bow. It would look silly.

Now a modern Western recurve with a sight would be something else....

I'd like to see air guns (as silent as bows but with using rifle skill), as well as more small game (but not birds!) to shoot at. AR-15 semi-auto would be grand as well.

Youre right about traditional chinese/mongolian bows but i like to have the options i guess. though i would be satisfied with a modern recurve with a sight. I prefer recurve bows in real life but i absolutely suck withestimating where to shoot without the sight.

Airguns would be fun. They could fit in the archery catagory as ive watched a view Keith Warren Videos where he downs a cape buffalo with an arrow designed to be shot from a .50 air rifle. Food for thought.

I would like an ar15. i was trying to keep the general hunting rifle look and feel of the weapons with my suggestions (as i assume thats what the devs would like to maintain) but i dislike the .223 rifle in the game right now and would definitely like a semi auto .223rem or 5.56nato gun. If they want to avoid the ar15 due to the bad PR from people who know nothing about guns, then the mini14 could be their model

I dont remember the guns name but theres this single shot bolt action .50bmg rifle ive seen alot of people shooting before. id like that gun if a barret isnt in their nature.

Maybe an antique version and a modern version of a muzzleloader
i couldnt think of the rifle i was really thinking of but its similar to a barret in looks, however its a bullpup bolt action single round .50bmg Ive seen a few guns at the range with it and i like it.

Shotguns are fantastic in my personal opinion. i feel like the shotguns in this game arent as effective with shot as they should be but they're still good for me. the .410 boltaction is definitely a gun that isnt very practical but i enjoy a bit of fun and impracticality.

I knew someone else would appreciate the Ruger IV suggestion.
I want something thats not a revolver but i know the m1911 probably isnt the perfect gun to put in. Maybe a deagle (just kidding). i read an article about a guy who stopped a black bear with his 9mm subcompact pistol. 9+1 capacity. Took every shot he had in the gun but he did it. i think a risky situation like that would be fun. i had trouble thinking of handguns to add but i definitely would like more handguns

Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking. :) It could be a DLC with a couple of historical weapons, possibly including a pistol or two (maybe a Howdah Pistol, lol) and their modern equivalent. I'd buy that! Although I guess accuracy might be a bit of a problem with the historical models.

Do you mean the Barret Model 95 maybe? If so, sure, why not. It's almost 11 kg, btw! :D Heard that it's loud as Hell too (as most bullpups are) and you are not going to fire this one standing up, lol!

Would you mind adding your view about buckshot efficiency in COTW in this thread? I don't want to go offtopic in this one. https://steamcommunity.com/app/518790/discussions/5/3393916911757841140/
I like a challenge too. :) Maybe I'll grow to like it if they ever add it to the game, I don't know.

Of course I do! This thing is a beauty! Never fired one myself, but I've heard good things from those who were into competitions. I was surprised to see that the hunting version is ~1.25 kg! I remember it being lighter for some reason.
I was thinking something along the lines of a Thompson-Center Contender. It can fire quite a few good rounds, among them a .45 Colt. Although 7-30 Waters might be a really nice calibre for this pistol. And it can be adapted to be either a pistol or a rifle.
Otherwise there are quite a few single shots pistols out there. They could easily pick three in different calibres and offer them as a DLC (along with custom sights and scopes, of course).

I was also thinking of a three barrelled rifle (2x shotgun, 1x rifle), but I am not sure how they would make this work in the game. :D In theory at least, you could have buckshot, slug and a rifle round in the same rifle. There could be two versions that would cover the whole integrity range, one in lower calibres and one in higher calibres, because why not. :D

As a final thought, I understand they can't use the names and exact shapes of these weapons, but I think it is helpful to use real life examples. They can then adapt things so they don't infringe copyright.

My dad used to carry a JC Higgens (Sears Roebuck) .410 on the combine when harvesting corn. He would bring home rabbits. pheasants, quail, ducks and the occasional whitetail. My 5 brothers and I learned to hunt with it while we were growing up. The gun still had the bluing on it when he sold it at the age of 78 for $350. He bought the gun for $25 when he was 16yo.

I'd enjoy a 6.5 Grendel AR. Probably one of my favorite rounds for an AR if you're gonna use it to hunt. A standard .223 is perfectly viable imo, i know a lot of people who hunt coyotes with them and id love to do that in game.

Have also some suggestion for the future Weapons Packs:
-1866 Thirteen Shooter .44 Henry rifle
-1873 Thirteen Shooter .44 Winchester Rifle
-a reversed Drilling with two 9.3 mm barrels
-1874 Sharps Sporting Rifle to take a buffalo with a single shot from 1000 yards

I would like a

Black Widow Catapult for birds and rabbits with free ammo (stones)
Large hunting knife for insta-death of charging animals if you time it right.
Explosive rounds for shotguns because ... well because the mess.
Police issue Axon Taser for roe and axis deer. You can keep zapping them after they hit the floor but it reduces your integrity.
Laptop gun set up on a tripod that you can just leave and come back later, to pick up all the carcasses.

Now back in the real world it would be swell if they would just fix the bugs before worrying about exotic weapons to add.
