I personally just feel so immersed in this game. It is a shame, you know? I was also thinking of a housing system where you build a house (likely in pre-allocated areas) and your trophies decorate the walls.
I udnerstand where you are coming from - this game has some beautiful outdoors...
But what is next - you want to add some cooking as well to roast your own catch? Socializing like in the sims? Building your own hut? Your own town?
Also for fishing, finding big foot, shooting with assault rifles, person hunting, shooting aliens and dinos.. All games have their own qualities and purposes.
Let his be a hunting game. And if Dev is fixing the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of bugs that are still there and stop showing how policor they are (except from being greedy payed dlc-pushers), this will be the best hunting game there is.
Traveling in this game without the ATV is intentionally slow. How much of a detriment would it be if after walking around for an hour and catching up to my prey, I have to take a break or go back to camp because otherwise my character is going to faint from starvation or dehydration?
If modding was a thing in CoTW I would have left to the player's discretion but as it is survival is not what this game is about. TheHunter is all about hunting; stalking and taking down your prey for bragging rights or just becase. I'd rather have a compact but rich game than one with many shallow features.
CoTW is what it is because it caters to a niche community that loves it and supports it despite all it's flaws. There's no other hunting game out there like this one, not even Cabela's come close and the Classic is too darn expensive. If the devs were to cater to everyone by creating a frankenstein of a game (survival + fishing + dinos + sims, etc) then that would be a big f* you to all who helped CoTW grow into what it is today.
Problem is this has already been discused to death in dozens of other threads and the answers have remained the same. It would be nice through modding, without it, not going to happen. Period.
As for the original suggestion it does need to be more dangerous. Animals should be able to defend themselves more then run you over running away and in some cases they should be able to hunt you!
I remember watching an episode of Sons of Winter and the families out trying to get a moose before the sons go off and they had a pack of wolves around and the family while they knew they could handle it were none the less spooked as wolves can be dangerous. That sort of feeling is missing from this game totally.
And yes a camp with campfire and chairs or sitting spots would be great especially in MP mode for friends to just sit around and chew the fat as it were!
Voice would also be a good feature in regards to MP mode is sorely missing!
In your first post you asked whether or not survival mechanics would be a good addition and later expressed you wished to turn this thread into a discussion about it, to which I posted my mind... and now you insult me for it. You could have just said you were looking for "yes-men".
Look, I'm sorry for bursting your bubble but I wouldn't hold my breath on this happening.
Another highly popular suggestion was fishing (still is to this day). Devs brought it up on a stream once and basically said that in order to compete with fishing simulators they would have to create a whole system from the ground up to support it, otherwise it would just be shallow and boring because TheHunter was built and designed for hunting, not fishing. And they don't want to spend resources on something if it's just going to turn half-a**ed.
You could argue that survival mechanics are somewhat easier to implement and I'd say yes, but only as a mod, as true survival is not what this game is about. Alas, CoTW doesn't support that and the devs already confirmed they're not going to open their engine to it, or more specifically Stefan, one of the creators, did, on Reddit.
TheHunter is a niche game, it caters to a niche community. If you want survival then go no further than the dozens, maybe hundreds of alternatives here on steam.
I heard you cannot hear other players calls and gunshots is that right??
Add a scale of food and drink. The game will become more interesting!
