Is a Dinosaur DLC a good idea?
I have to say theHunter COTW is a great game, I have put in many hours playing with my best friend and my brother. But there is something that interests us, hunting dinosaurs.

I know there are many games with dinosaur hunting. Even EW's own theHunter Primal. But let’s face it, Primal was garbage. But COTW is great and I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to add a dinosaur mode with a DLC. It doesn't have to be historically accurate, just add dinosaurs to the current hunting reserves, and maybe an elephant gun or other large gun.

Does anyone else think this is a cool idea? I think it would be pretty awesome, and it’s certainly a DLC I would buy.

you're (kinda) in luck:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1024380/Second_Extinction/

Systemic Reaction is Avalanche's "sci fi" spin-off studio; they also develop Generation Zero. Expansive Worlds and Systemic apparently split under a reorganization a few months ago, from what I gather. In any event, Second Extinction uses the same game engine as Call of the Wild and Generation Zero.

I also think this is why Primal was dropped and all but ignored. They were quietly developing this in the background.

No it's not a good idea at all. This is a hunting sim not a fantasy killing game.

I quite like theHunter: Primal, given its limitations (species, map size, etc.). Of course you need to lightly hack it to allow it to save your progress (see the Steam Forum), but for the price, it is well worth it.

I am sure such DLC would find its customers, same for zombies and generally survival elements. Those things are trending among certain population segments, so it is possible to capitalize on them, but it is pretty clear that main customer of EW prefers realistic hunting experience so EW will direct resources this way, going to be most cost-effective

Yeah I bought this for hunting game not zombies and dinosaurs so want the developers to stay on target and not get side tracked into nitch areas that have nothing to do with real life hunting.

In RL you don't hunt zombies or dinosaurs!!

If the Expansive Worlds are willing to change their policies to support mods-available, Maybe it'll come to be achieved easily.

I think mod support is not going to happen. EW prefers to maintain exclusive abilities for in-game content development. Hunting simulator is not hugely popular genre, so this approach is probably the most effective to ensure financial success in order to keep developing and creating new content

Yes, 100% agreed

So Dinosaurs wouldn't be a big hit with the current players. What about fishing? Lake fishing in the pacific northwest region. Maybe some ice fishing in the taiga?

I think EW will keep its focus on land mammals and birds, as most cost-effective approach. Lake fishing might be fun, but COTW does not seem to be fit as serious fishing platform

excellent idea. Time machine portal and POOF we are 160 millions back in time and can hunt dinosaurs. But it needs to be dangerous, very dangerous. They should hunt you too

their hunting simulator is awesome. All they need to do is add a survival aspect to it (food, thirst, warm, cold etc while is some harsch region (dangerous) and people would flock to this game in the millions

I'd vote for a time machine to, say, 1915 Africa to shoot Big 5 with impunity ;-) (with historically appropriate firearms of course). That and North America circa 1780 with muzzleloaders.

No offence is intended to you or others who ask for fishing, but why not just go play a fishing game? There are a few now that are not too bad; Fish Plantet is even free (at least to try out). Fishing Sim World is supposed to be released on all platforms in September. It looks pretty lush, but given that they are the devs (Dovetail Games) for Euro Fishing, it might just be a DLC cash grab. Even so, there are others.

you want Dinos, ok The Hunter Primal, started as a tech demo, public demand lead to it being sold with the disclosure of no long term support for the game. so if Dinos are your thing , pick it up
