Well the idea first came to me, in Layton. I was on one side of the river, shot a deer on the other side. I had to walk along the length of the river to find a crossing. Really just wanted to swim across the river to get the trophy.
Not sure about Hirschfelden. There are islands in some of the lakes, but they are too small to really hunt on. And the lakes have a good amount of crossing along them and there isn’t really much water mass. But with the Geese on the Way.
Do geese swim on water much?
Medved, well. It’s a frozen tundra, so swimming (unless your a Russian bear. “The Russian dudes who swim in freezing water”) I doubt anyone would want to go swimming. However I recently got stuck near the big lake, was right near the water. I think the game had a durp moment. And it made me wander. If I somehow, fell into the lake, would I be able to get out.
But it’s an improvement to the movement system. I could be useful. It’s one of those game mechanics, I kind of feel is mandatory in games, these days.
Occasionally animals have been known to get stuck in the water. And players can’t get the trophy. Would be nice if there was an option to swim and get it.
It doesn’t have to be full on swimming, but at least some movement in water.
I know it seems unrealistic. Who goes swimming carrying rifles, bows, callers and all that jazz.
But The Hunter series are games, with a realistic feel, as much as the devs can make it feel realistic. It’s not a Sim. And the mission statement in Classic still apply with COTW.
(The most realistic hunter GAME ever)
It’s a game, and they tried to make it feel realistic, and I feel they have made a good balance. And it allows for a certain amount of unrealistic activities.
BOATS!!! :)
Fishing, canoe, and rafting, that has been asked before.
Even though the Hunter Series is aimed towards Trophy Hunting, with rifles shotguns and bows.
I have always felt the Hunter series is way ahead of all other hunting games.
And with COTW I really feel there is room for these activities.
Fishing with rods, and bow fishing.
At some point the Ducks will arrive.
I seen dudes hunting ducks, and other animals from a boat, canoe.

If the Dev’s ever make Crocodiles, or Gators, I can see a boat being a good game mechanic to tackle them with.
I’ve forgotten the name of the Swamp map from Classic, but I always felt a canoe or small boat, would fit in.
The question is how to implement it.
Layton has enough steams lakes, and connecting rivers for this too work. Would be nice to travel around in a canoe.
I recon the dev's will make a swamp reserve, or a water heavy reserve.
But before that, the character needs to be able to swim.
Sorry for the long post, I really waffle on. But I’m curious how does the community feel about this idea?
