To start Sorry if I didn't make my first post clear enough or if i'm misunderstanding you.
What I meant was for the guns that are in the game to get black powder cartridges (for guns that historically used them) and\or shotshells atleast for the shotguns (birdshot and buckshot).
Some guns that historically used black powder loads are
38 special (357 mag ingame can use them)
45 long colt
45-70 gov
The 12ga, 16ga, and 20ga shotguns
Thats all that i can think of that is in game but i think it would be cool to get the smoke effect of black powder for atleast the shotguns. maybe to be more clear i would like seperate shotshell\cartridges for black powder kind of like how we have 20ga birdshot and steel birdshot.
A few links about what i'm talking about.
For the 38 special (357)

Edit After watching the shotgun video again I'm thinking that BP shells\cartridges would be good for multiplayer as the smoke would kind of like an arrow pointing to what was shot at.
I wouldn't want black powder in the guns in game now. You lose roughly 2/3 of the power vs a normal round, and that's with the current black powders today.
my suggestion is more of a black powder gun without as much work (for the moment anyway) as a muzzle loader.
Also there are muzzle loading revolvers so they aren't that much different (cart. guns can be loaded faster that's really it). Yes the revolvers are loaded into the cylinder but the whole process is the same as loading from the muzzle.

I think this got lost from my first post.
my idea was that the black powder loads a little less effective but can hunt a lower class of animal with it. My thoughts on animals and blackpowder loads is this
357 with bp 12 pen same damage as now and goose and fox can be hunted
357 now upped penetration to 15 and can only hunt coyote and up
44 need a penetration boost to 18 or 19 since the 357 would be more powerful
12ga, 16ga, and 20ga shot having a damage drop off by half over 30 yards making them close range
Buckshot would be the same as the birdshot with a damage drop off of half after 30 yards
The shotguns seem to be over powered with bird shot as i can kill a bird with one pellet at 50 yards plus while the 22 pistol may get a sub 100 in quick kill at that range.
All of the pistol bullets i list are a reference to the cheaper bullets (hollow points\ high damage) as that is all i use for all guns.
I hope this clarifies things better.
Edit I see that you have posted (i have also) in the weapon pack 4 thread but i will put this here for people that don't know that it's mostly about muzzleloaders.

i still say why? if we do black powder lets really do black powder.
The first idea was for a muzzle loading shotgun. then i got to thinking about the time it takes to reload them as being bit off putting. So the idea of black powder shells came up as a way of getting the effect but a lower reload time. The SXS shotguns would be more close to a real muzzle loading shotgun but people could use them in all shotguns but in semi-autos it wouldn't work irl (most likely not).
A shorter reload and still get a little blinding effect is\was the reason for the idea and more so a shotgun idea but a revolver would be nice also.
They could do a quick loader type thing for the reload of the muzzle loading shotgun or speed up the reload animation. One barrel wouldn't be bad but it's the full reload of a double that may turn into a long wait.
I guess they could split the difference and make a single barrel but it wouldn't be as fun for birds and rabbits since you would only get one shot.Just going to add a picture of a single that they could do. Expansive worlds would most likely make this or something like it as they could do a bunch of skins for it (camo, wood, etc.).

Also the i think the you only have one or two shots really makes each kill special/different :) so i'd be happy with it
