So like rifles would be more like the video where as bows or pistols would also have their own shorter ranges more in line with their range and such.

I think in this case he's using the easy range setting as he has the red shot indicator. The harder levels remove this indicator. Not sure anything like that could be implemented in COTW to help as a training aid and then the player could go more advanced not sure that could be implemented or not in the game but should if it's possible!
And honestly each map should have it's own set of ranges meaning I should not have to change maps to goto the range. And each range should be different so gives different challenges not just a plain cookie cutter range!
Or ... dun dun dun ... a DLC of its own.
Many missions later such as "Range record, hit a bullseye with an arrow at 225m" and "Hit 50 clay pigeons out of 50", and you get the new weapon.
I really don't like that when you get a new DLC with a new weapon, you get the weapon straight away. Imagine you had to complete all these tasks on the range DLC, feats of excellence and at the end the range owner opens his private shop and gives you the semi automatic license and you can buy an AR15 from him. But its really hard and takes a lot of work and grind to finish.
I want to be rewarded for finishing all the missions on a DLC. Finishing Africa and Yukon to get absolutely nothing cheesed me off a bit.
Take the night vision glasses, they're what x4 zoom, you could do a basic mission chain to get those, then go on to a harder mission chain to get the next step up like x8, then a hard mission chain for x12 with on/off toggle and other cool additions
