Increase animals spawn rate
I have been playing this game for a while now, and one thing that is starting to grind my gears is when i walk around for 15-20 min trying to find anything to hunt down, i find nothing at all. Sometimes even hotspots are pretty much like a desert.

I strongly recommend to double the spawnrate of animals. This will make this game more like a hunting simulator and not like a walking simulator.

I guess we can all agree to this suggestion? Comment below.

fully agreed - but as an option - because there are people who want the opposite !

"I guess we can all agree to this suggestion?"

Nope, as bigboy4884 stated, some, like myself, would prefer fewer animals. I don't think I've ever spent more than 5 minutes in-game before hearing a call or seeing an animal.

I wouldn't mind some type of difficulty setting, to be honest.

Easy = Lots of animals but fewer big trophy animals.

Normal = What we have now. A mixture of a decent amount of animals and also a few trophies here and there.

Hard = Very few animals and a slim chance to see a big trophy animal.

For the little time I have played and as someone that knows nothing about hunting (I mean I'm a real noob) I think they have the spawn/animal encounter rate spot on. Sometimes I go ages without seeing anything and other times I bring home th bacon. Makes for some really satisfying gameplay imho. Love it! If they increase the animal rate I think it wouls be too easy and won't achieve what they game is trying to accomplish.

Maybe impliment a slider in the options menu to increase/decrease the animal spawn rate? Either way, I think they have it spot on atm.

I'm of the opinion spawn rate is about right as well.

The only tweak I would say needs to be done to spawning is it seems like some spawns cease working after a while to the tune of no animals at all. Hard to really get a read on if this is happening though. I can say that some areas where animals seem like they should be (in and around Balmont, by example) cease spawning any animals at all - this has been the case for 7+ in-game days. I don't mind if it is in fact a variable phenomena... but it does not seem like it is?

On the other hand - like others have said above me - maybe that's a good option to put in-game? Being able to adjust spawn rates? Also makes it such that multiplayer servers can do thier own thing with spawns too.

I must say there was many good replies and suggestions.

Im really fancy for what PicSoul suggested. A difficulty setting easy, medium and hard. This settings adjusts spawnrating, tropy rating and perhaps "spook" range etc.

Sometimes im in those "trigger happy" mood where i just want to hunt and harvest all day. Choosing difficulty would satisfy me when im in these mood.

i have also experienced what buckskinmare is saying. Sometimes there is literally desert on some areas. To me it feels like the hunting pressure zones are bugging out, when the zone is gone on the map the game dont recognize it's gone. But i cant confirm this.

Hey Ballade, Did you look at the guides? One of them has maps showing where the animals are active. There are areas of the map where there is very little activity and other areas where there is a lot of activity. I think a lot of people do not realize how many animals they scare away as they move around.

I've not had a hard time finding animals to kill, as long as I keep moving. It's when I stop I have problems. I won't see a damn thing. Literally sat in one spot for literally 30 mins, even made a few eustrus calls. However, as soon as I move, there is a coyote across the lake (found rest zone), warning call behind me in the woods (make eustrus call), and then two deer appear. Oh, did I mention the weather was perfect until I moved. Once I moved, it started raining.

Weather, that's another problem. I've noticed weather will be fairly consistant until you move. I've seen it go from perfect, to storm, and then back to perfect all in one hundred yards.

I really like the idea of stands and blinds, but the games seems to be favored towards stalking. Just keep moving, you'll find something to kill. However, the codex mentions the difficult animals won't make calls, so who knows, maybe the stands are for the really hard animals.

Yes, I think they the animal population is spot on, too but would like to see the feature as listed - he does say normal = what we have now - which I agree is spot on for "gaming," but the hard/easy would cater to different needs very easily... +1

Giving the players a chance to tweak the game more to their liking is a good thing and I wouldn't mind seeing a spawn rate feature added.

I'm not really having a problem finding animals now. Sure, I have spells where I wander around and don't see or hear a thing. I've also wound up in the shooting gallery areas too. It is what it is and like dad always said.."if were easy, it'd be called shooting and catching instead of hunting and fishing".

I think the spawn rate is okay. If there was a setting I'd be fine with that. Not sure if that's where development time should be focused at this stage of the game though.
SoUlFaThEr Jan 28, 2018 @ 12:53am
I think the spawn rate is fine. Sometimes i was 1-2 minutes between kills using callers etc and walking not running.....other times I've waited while recording videos far over 30 minutes to even hear anything at all.

Options in games are king though so the slider or difficulty suggestion isnt bad.

Clocked nearly 200 hours and STILL have not seen 1 Albino and only 2 Piebolds which seem to be unspecial in the payout. I have only 1 diamond kill. For me........that's not balanced well in reference to time spent. I get silvers and gold all the time. The werecoyote and Mr. Black are the only 2 legendaries ive seen in all this time and I record everything due to my channel.

As someone else said.......if you stop moving........you can wait until christmas (in or out of a blind/stand). I wish for special code to fire when you enter a stand/blind. Ive waited 6 hours of real time, filmed the entire thing.......not a single animal went by and I was surrounded by need zones. THAT.........is bull**** and needs some attention imo.

I agree with PicSoul, i think I've asked for something like that.
I've been feeling the COTW community needs a bit ofchoice with difficulty settings.
Also because this game is open to console players it will attract more casual players who may have never hunted.
I found classic through a google search before it came on Steam.
But on console's it will be advertised to the more casual crowd.

The funny thing on this game is that the level of difficulty is upside down. on the beginning it is very hard and with earning more skills and perks and new guns it becomes more and more easier..
I mean i did several restarts with this game and also with low skills you can level really fast and take out all animals. Nevertheless it is as it is and with level 60 there is simply no really challenge except going for trophies and theese are random.. The Hunting club will also not change that because from level 60 you neither need money nor XP..

I would like to see really hard challenges that are allways on where you can earn special items, guns or get trophies like in the main missions (but please not so easy)

We need trophy room for sure, and I think developers should think about utilizing Steam better with its inventory - cards, backgrounds, icons and emoticons etc
