Perhaps you can connect a good controller to your PC.
I do the same with the WASD keys.
Funny how you can freelook on your ATV though !!
Like others said, you can use a controller to achieve this.
But, a proper freelook is available in COTW, but you need to have a Tobii Eye Tracker 4C device.
I do have one and is pretty neat to play COTW with it!

As long as the your Gaze overlay option is turned off, you'll be fine! ;)
A bit more relevant, does that 'focus blob' get distracting? I've been thinking of getting eye tracking, but the blob looks irritating.
The blob thing (gaze overlay) is a completely optional thing. I've only enabled it to see it for myself, but after that I've never enabled it. It's not there unless you wanted to be there, for demo or test purpose for example.
