Using brand names costs money. That money will come from us at some point. If a Bluebutterfly .243 works the same as a Remington .243, and the only difference is using the name "Remington" costs the company 10,000$, what is the point?

i agree fly, to have exact ballistics of .243 is waaaaay more important than having a name stamped on the model

Well I agree with not to. It is cool to see brands, but that costs a lot. Unless they get some deal, all in all though looking at the guns you can get the refrences to the real ones. Just leave it as is, and let them have their world, which lets it be a bit cheaper and no need for royalties.

I agree with this. If remington or marlin and others were like "Hey, here is (insert amount of $), use our name in your game so we can get some advertisement to a targeted audience", as many of us are real hunters, then I think that would be fine. But until that day, screw brand names they cost too much.

It would be interesting to know if the Devs talked to the brand owners and what offers were made from each side.

I guess it could be interesting for some brands to be present in a game, e.g. some farming simulators use real brands.

If they did it as DLC gun skins that would be fine, soe people who really want to give to brands could. but unless sponced I don't see it being needed. If they did it as an ad campaign type of thing. But for real other big name hunter sim/games have these names IE cabs,remington had a game,etc.

They did for sure this. They also did this already in Classic but after a while it was to expensiv to Maintain new Weapons with Brand names so they canceled the contracts with Blaser and Anschütz cause profit wise its better for them and us.
I realy would like to read again my beloved Blaser F3 or Anschütz 8x57IS or even Zeiss Scopes and stuff like that but as long as they have to pay instead of geting advertising money from them i stay with unbranded names.

They cannot afford to pay the licensining fees to each respective company to use product names and are not going to do it. In theHunter: Classic, some companies allowed them to use their product likenesses and names, i.e. TenPoint for crossbows, Blaser for rifles, Boone & Crockett for the use of scoring sheets.

Unless a company freely allows their products to be used in this game, it isn't going to happen. I'm sure Boone & Crockett probably were not even asked for COTW and it is doubtful they would have allowed it any due to night hunting, which is tatamount to poaching and illegal in MOST places. B&C would never go for it.
