and wait..
and wait..
they WILL come..
Also turn off the hunter HUD (the one with all the icons showing wind and your heart etc.) and the HUD map indicators.. this way your screen will be completely clean.
You can look at the map for spotted objects and you will still get the indicators from where a noise occurred.
You don't need the wind thing.. just look at the debris flying around it is very obvious..
Also (I think it was a DLC but not sure) I got the small portable blinds.. sit in one of those for a long time and animals will come around.
I've had times where I ran up a hill and looked way down and saw sleeping elk.. if I got too close they ran.. but if I snuck up to within about 150 yards.. they stayed..
Anyway, enjoy that time where you have to sneak and/or wait. Enjoy the scenery.
This game is not good if you want to score big kills very fast.
Hope this helps!
Other than that i did find when i was playing this game, i used Vorpx to get this game in my VR headset, you tend to approach animals lot more cautious in VR than flatscreen because you feel when you need to be quiet and crouching, you can estimate distances better and see what is behind those bushes better with 3D just like those animals can see you. I really couldn't find any animals in flatscreen. Too bad vorpx isn't really natural VR experience.
On my opinion spook distance could be altered for VR players as an option, when VR support comes. I am conviced it will come some day.
As I have meanwhile played a lot more hours, I totally agree and have the same feeling. In the beginning there is a lot more animals and is getting very low after some time and doesnt seem to come back.
One, always stalk in to the wind
Two, walk normally until you hear a warning call. At that point, switch to crouch and move slowly in the direction of the warning call.
I think it's really that simple and works nearly every time, allowing you to get in position for a good shot.
Once you opened up fast travel points around the map, plan out your stalk. Choose a destination, and then fast travel to whichever point will allow you to reach your destination by stalking in to the wind.
Are you understanding the concept of hunting pressure and how areas and animals are affected by it?
Most the time I am crouch shift walking though.
This really works! I do the same thing :)
