We should be able to set baited lines in order to catch alligators and crocodiles!

I was not kidding and your comment is ridiculous! You need to try harder!

Alligators and crocodiles are actually really hard to hunt in this game! You have to stay extremely far away to avoid spooking them and to get a shot, most of the time 1 shot doesn't kill them unless you are using an extremely expensive gun/ammo, they house underwater as soon as you shoot, if they go underwater then they are usually gone for good.

This is ashnanunez 2nd post looking for devs to add an easy way to catch animals... Traps and now baited lines... He doesn't want to work for it, he just wants it to be given to him.
No risk / reward for what you are looking for... You just want free handouts. For me that's a large part of the hunting experience. Find a rare and then don't FK up the kill / Trophy.
I have been playing for 1 week and almost screwed up 2 of my rare finds. I made clean shots on my 2 very rares though. Feels so good.

It is about realism and customization, not an easy hunt. Gator lines would be for crocodiles and alligators, traps would be for small game. What, you don't think that a hunter feels good/proud when he runs a trap line and gets a really rare and high quality kill?

Most people who gators and crocs do use baited lines and baited lines should be in this game! The developers should try letting us hunt these animals like real hunters. We should be able to hunt these animals like how everybody else hunts them. It is not lazy at all to use bated lines to hunt gators and crocs. It is lazy to use guns to hunt gators and crocs because you are hunting them from a safe distance

no and no...
this is an hunting game not a fishing one, just because in one part of the world someone "catch" in a different way don't mean that ALL the world must do the same

It is not one part of the world, it is lots of parts of the world. Using lines for alligators and crocodiles is considered hunting not fishing.

it's definitely lazier to literally not go looking at all, set up a hook like, then come back a day or so later to pull the animal to the surface and shoot it in the head. It has no real means of escape and it's ability to fight back is extremely limited.

Edit: If you think hunting them by foot is lazy feel free to try and trek through the nearest marshland or even just a muddy dirt lot after a rainstorm.

It is definitely a lot lazier and a lot less dangerous to hunt crocodiles and alligators with a gun. When you are hunting with baited lines the alligator or crocodile is literally inches away from you. The alligator or crocodile can pull you into the water at any second or it can jump high enough and grab a body part

Definitively not safe to do it on foot with a gun, the alligators can sneak around you or you can accidentally come up on a nest and get dumpstered by a protective female defending her eggs. The risk of being pulled into the water is greater on foot. Don't forget that on foot out in the marshes puts you at risk of sinking into hidden holes in the reeds, swallowed by mud, or pulled under by subsurface currents.

Plus, remember that line hunting is done from a boat where they let the gator struggle until it exhausted and can't move any more then haul it up while it's practically catatonic to shoot it in the head. IMO the only hunting method that could be considered less sporting/more unfair is mtn lion hunting where people use dogs to tree the cat so they can shoot it unhindered from like 30ft then act like they "hunted" something.

Also definitely not lazier to do it with a gun compared to line hunting from a boat, and lemme tell you why with the former you are out in the wilderness walking under your own power whereas with line hunting you're sitting in a boat where you have to do nothing apart from wait, grab a string once in a while, and occasionally pull the trigger.

Edit: Also, do you understand how line hunting is done? They hook/snare the gator/croc then shoot it when it surfaces on its own or after they've pulled it to the surface when it's exhausted itself. No matter how gators/crocs are hunted, it's done with guns.

There are several other ways to hunt alligators instead of just guns such as Bang sticks, Bows, Gigs, Harpoons, Spears, Spearguns and knives

This is true, but firearms are arguably the most commonly used weapon, including when line hunting.

I guess it's a coincidence that ashnanunez opened a similarly ...interesting thread recently in the Fishing Planet subforum and the same completetly new faces supporting him in this thread also support him in that one:

And I guess there might be more levels of bait at play, here.
