Shooting Birds.
Hitting ducks when they are flying is ridiculously hard! (only managed to kill 2 so far) and they worth nothing! like $500 each.
I had to shoot one 2 times with a Zarza .223 (dont even ask me how i managed to hit the same flying duck 2 times because i dont know how i managed to do that.)
The other one I shot down flying was with a Zarza .308 and he dropped with 1 shot.
Ive tried to shoot them with shotgun too....buckshot, birdshot and didnt hit any! all they do is break the flying formation and spread.
What is the trick? camp a lake with 20 decoys and duck caller for 4 hours and wait untill they land?

What reserve for Canada Goose? Im exploring the Richenfeldt right now untill i build all hunting structures, etc...
Killing those "Fasions" or whatever they are called is not as hard as ducks because they have "Chicken Flight" they fly away but dont get far...so its easier to take them down with shotguns.

Phantasm set decoys and a tent near the waters edge ,you can have at least 10 areas per map jump to each one , you should be able to shoot two to four ducks , just jump out of your tent really fast blast them. I have like three maps set up you like this can bring lots of ducks and have plenty of money every few days or untill the purple Is gone, and a several diamonds. Any by the way If you like bird hunting up grade your hunter with some perks really helps make sure your mouse Is set up so you can swing your gun faster . And the more you shoot the better you get. I have been killing Pheasants at new England, kind of mad I cant shoot a pheasant with bird tip 300 grain arrow whats up with that WG when you can with turkeys. Forcing me to use a shot gun.

Use the wild turkey crow caller to have them sound off and you can repeat many times and always know where they are ,Its the wooden one. The wild turkey mouth caller caller works great use It at about 70 yards let the turkey come to you and be ready they could fly towards you also..

If you're using a rifle for bird hunting I would recommend the .22lr. Highly accurate and much less likely to spook other animals. Plus it has a 10 round mag.

Just a note to the OP to point out that it's futile to try and hit birds that fly overhead (in their normal flight patterns) with a shotgun. The effective range of birdshot is 50m only (75m is workable with elevation adjustments, but this is hard to do with an overhead shot on a fast moving target). These birds you see over you are on average at about 100m or so of altitude, don't waste your shells...

Yeah... i realized that shooting them while they are above me is waste of ammo.

Also, picking out overhead birds with the .22 was somewhat feasible on a regular basis back 'in the day' (some of the streamers seemed to be pretty adept at it) but I find that since the bird update (whenever that was) they are now flying too fast to land shots consistently. When I hear them come, I usually just lie down for a few seconds, to see if they might land nearby. Often enough they do (without calling them), and I pop up and shoot.

Keep looking for need zones (feeding, resting) set up a blind if you own the dlc and wait. Duck caller and decoys would be helpful, but not necessary. I leveled shotgun by just doing this.
Load up Birdshot and shoot while they're landing and starting. Keep quiet for a while they'll eventually return, rinse and repeat.
I managed to shoot more than 20 from one blind during their time resting.

Both the Ducks and Geese will send in another flock even after you shoot. Dead birds on the ground do not scare them away. I use decoys and a call, and some kind of blind.

I have killed a few ducks at 90 yards , but lately been killing a few pheasants when they mess up and give me a chance on the New England map..Pheasants sure do look nice In game but they sure are spooked easy and boy do they like to run..Bird hunting Is so much fun In this game.

I was up on a look out came back down and walked over too a gazebo and while i was under neath It a duck or two smashed In to It, it was funny on New England map remember your higher up In elevation ducks tend to stay at a certain elevation giving you a chance with a shot gun. Yesterday had so many pheasants and ducks giving me chances at them In game.
