35 GB with every update etc???
why does this keep happening? why is it a huge chunk with every update published? and when its nearly done or interrupted it resets the download back so I've lost man hours downloading it.

To my knowledge, it includes the total file size of any new maps, weapons, cosmetics, and effects while also implementing auditory and graphical changes which overwrite existing files. Essentially, you are only downloading and installing 5 to 12 "new" gigs worth of stuff in every update and the remaining size is just file replacement due to bug fixes and general changes. So, you are download 35 gigs but installing much less than that.

Edit: I may be wrong though.

Think about it. When you buy DLC's they are instantly available to you. There is no DL.
This means that all DLC's are already installed on your machine. Hence the file size.
When an update comes out you essentially have to DL the entire game plus ALL the DLC's including new ones.
Is it efficient? No.
Is it frustrating? Yes.
Does it happen very often? Nope.
So its just one of those things in life you just gotta get on with.
I have two ex wives. Believe me downloading an update on this game is a walk in the park compared to a ten minute conversation with either of them :steamhappy:

I bought the game on Epic store. I have not noticed any downloads. Every dlc I buy is immediately available to use.

oh, yeah, they went with the easiest delivery mechanism possible - just bundle everything together in one package, and enable only the DLCs that a player has purchased. Easy to implement, rather than the need for a smart installer (fetch on demand).

A smart installer is one that reads a manifest file to see what you've purchased, and only then decides what to download from the store based on that. For updates, of course, even a smart installer will have to compare what you have against what is changed, and download what is needed.

Personally, I don't mind waiting for new content to be downloaded only on demand.

If it is all packaged in the one update bundle, then that has to be downloaded to your local storage before the installer decides what to do with the content, based on what you have purchased. So, you may be downloading content that you don't need, and just wasting internet bandwidth and local storage, not to mention possibly incurring extra data usage charges (depending on your service plan).

Easy enough to tell, though - on your computer, install Wireshark (google it) and you can watch the transfer in real time over your network, even if you are downloading to your XBox or PlayStation
