Corrupted Save File: how to patch the new one?
So my Save got corrupted. I looked for help on the website where it said:
You will need to continue with your new game to keep playing theHunter: Call of the Wild, but you can try to patch in files from your old Save to try and keep as much of your progress as possible!
with no further explanation. Does anyone know which files I have to replace to save most of my progress and which ones are the most likely to be corrupted. Is there a guide on how to do this somewhere?

Im afraid I can't really help you with that, and I assume you have done this already, but just in case: Immediately make a backup of your local save files (for Windows it's probably easiest to backup the whole Avalanche Studios folder under My Documents or all subfolders for the game in it if you have more games from them installed. Ideally, you have made such backups before (at the very least you'll probably make them from now on). That way, you can experiment a bit without having to be afraid to lose anything (more).
I assume you didn't have cloud saves activated or perhaps just one of the options? Because if the files got corrupted during saving, you might get a message that there's a difference between the two saves (cloud and local) and get the option to choose one. Unless both got corrupted/updated equally, I guess.

Did this happen right after the recent update?

In my Avalanche Studios > COTW > Saves > long number folder, there seem to be 4 savegame versions saved (base folder and slots 0 to 2). At least that would be my guess. So you could try replacing the files in the base number folder with the content of one of the slots. The names of the single files seem pretty descriptive as well, so in case you don't get a better answer, I'd reach out to support or try to tinker with the files, check which were recently changed, etc.

Here's a thread with a rough instruction, but nothing terribly concrete, either.

I made a backup of the corrupted file and I also found an old backup so I'm going to try and do as the reddit post suggests, copying the files one by one into the new save.
So, thanks for your answer and the link, it gave me some new hope, at one point I was seriously considering to uninstall the game and move on. If this doesn't work I still might.
And to anyone else reading this thread: backup your save as often as you can be arsed or run the risk of losing all your hard grinded progress (in my case 1400h)! This game is the most unstable game I've ever played and it's only getting worse.

Edit: succes! I managed to save most of my progress (level, lodges and equipment), corruption must have been in an animal population file, so I'm good. @Findus: thanks again, mate!
