Great One?
Is it true that I would need thousands of kills of one type of animal to get a great one to spawn?

Depends on the RNG gods, EW partner content creator LadyLegend got hers after 873 Kills while Mel also a partner content creator got hers after 4.8k kills. Good luck.

BTW this is specific to Black Bear the newest GO which by all accounts is the hardest grind. I got my White Tail and Red Deer GO's with well under 1K kills.

Isn't it possible to get one to spawn after killing only one?
CONDOR V Jul 19, 2022 @ 12:59pm
There are initial spawns, in other words after introduction of GO and subsequent game update (there is a game update after every new GO) they are already on your map but this is very rare. But to answer your question I would suppose given the RNG nature of COTW that it would be possible after 1 kill but this would also be extremely rare.

I wonder if the chances get better with each one you kill. Or is it like a die roll where the odds are 1 in 6 no matter how many times you roll it. Maybe more like 1 in 1000 for the great one. Just knowing that it's always possible is good enough for me.

For sure your chances get better hence the grinds. Gamers that have been playing this since 2017 would not keep shooting a specific species into their thousands if this were not the case but RNG does play a role. Basically there is finite number of animals on a reserve and by killing one you make room for another to spawn. If RNG goes your way that next spawn could be a GO.

Your chances get better by virtue of trying more often, but the chance itself remains the same for each kill and respawn so just like a dice. At least in my understanding.

That's what I was thinking as well. There's not really a "required grind" you have to go through. There's just a good chance it will take several tries to make him appear. But each kill has the same chance of respawning a GO as the one before.
