Dolby Atmos - Animals sound close?
So I had bought Dolby a long time ago for a different game, and noticed this game supports it. So I turned it on on my PC and plugged in my headset, and turned it on in game. It sounds pretty dang good most of the time I will admit! However, the animal calls and footsteps seem way off. They will sound VERY loud and right next to you, but when you look they cannot be seen so are obviously pretty far away. Footsteps are the same way. I hear leaves crunching like they are on top of me only to see a deer like 50-100 yards away.

Curious if I have some setting wrong in Windows or something or if it's just the game.

It's just the game. Unbalanced sounds have been an issue for 5 years now. They tried many times to tweak them, but apparently they just can't get them right.

I'm using Dolby for Headphones too, and I haven't noticed that with calls/steps. With or without Dolby on, bird noises seem to travel too far, but mammal sounds seem to be ok. Does it go away if you turn Dolby off in game and in Windows?

The hunter just has insane conical hearing, things are like 2-3 times louder in front of him by default but I dunno about Atmos

It doesn't do that if I turn off Atmos. It's so loud when the mammal calls it actually makes me jump a bit sometimes lol. To bad there's not setting to tweak sounds how you want. Like a slider for certain animals, or calls, and different sounds.

Weird--is this on one map, or all? Also curious if it continues if you leave the game's Dolby on but change Windows to use Sonic instead, or none, if that changes it?
I would love sliders as you've described--you're not the first person to suggest that. I think it would be an awesome accessibility feature for folks with different kinds of hearing/hearing loss.

I am not sure I have only been playing on the lake map mostly, and Alaska for a short bit so far. I actually didn't notice it as much on the Yukon Valley map, but I only ran into one animal so far.
