need help on my fallow grind

so im doing the te awora fallow grind got 26 drinking zones of wich im rotating the big herd ones so far im over 300 kills in a bunch of golds 0 diamonds and 0 great ones i know a great one can take a while but srsly no diamonds?shooting the the biggest males and im picking up all my kills aswell is there something i missed or am i srsly unlucky?

Have you thinned out the middle levels first? Not sure if it still works, but at least until recently, you'd ideally try to get as many low level animals as possible first.
Also 300 kills isn't that many, so you could just be unlucky.

You're honestly not that far into the grind yet. By 300 kills in my grind, I think I had one diamond. As I got further in though, I found that with a few exceptions, the diamonds seemed to come in waves. I'd have a dry spell with nothing for a while then all of sudden, several diamonds would appear in pretty quick succession. Ultimately it's still gonna come to down luck to some extent.

I haven't harvested a great on on the TA map but have I've managed to get a number of diamond Fallow deer along with a few max level trolls. What I've learned over the years playing this game is that how I handle the need zones I've found is much more important than how many I've found. My "system" is simple. I kill the level 3s. To the point that if there's a small level 3 standing next to a big level 4, I'll kill the level 3 and leave the 4 alone. I choose to hunt in 4 areas on the TA map and only use 3 tents to rotate between them. There hasn't been a week without my seeing at least one 5-Medium Fallow in the three months I've been hunting them.
