Class vs Level
I've been using the Diamond number on the several web pages out there to tell me when that 4-legged fool might be a Diamond. "Legendary 9" for example. Using the spreadsheets, it seems to me that that'd be "Class". If so, what's Level? What's the difference?

Legendary (9) is the level (difficulty, also correlates to size) of this specific animal, class is for the whole species. Class determines which ammo gives you no integrity penality when shooting a species.
To get full integrity, you need to hit a vital organ, hit the animal at most two times (except for pellets), use the proper ammo, and don't hit a trophy organ.
To get a diamond, you need to kill a high level animal that can be a diamond (that's what the lists are for) and get full integrity.

Animal Class defines what size of firearm or arrow/bolt we can legally use to harvest it.

All animals in this game have been divided by the devs into various levels within their respective species. Some species may have only 3 levels, others may have 5 or even 9 levels. Historically, the animals weight drives the train in what level an animal has been assigned within it's species. How high the animal may score is another matter. Generally, the heavier an animal is the higher it will score but being the fattest deer in the herd does not mean it will also be the highest scoring deer in the herd.

Aside from that there are various difficulty ratings that have been assigned to these levels (easy, hard, very hard etc...) These difficulty ratings translate into how sensitive the animal is to our noise, stink and visibility. Suffice it to say that it's a lot easier to sneak up on an animal with a difficulty rating of "easy" than it is to one with a rating of "very hard".

I'm good with Class, brain fart so lets talk Level. So you're saying this number tells us how many descriptives we could see for that animal? Water Buffalo at Parque... Level 9. So I should expect to see anywhere from 1-Trivial to 9-Legendary? That's a lot of levels!

Mule Deer... Level 5. I won't see higher than "5-XXX" in the window? There'll be only 5 "level's" of descriptiv?

I know it's not that simple, we must watch the weight & Diamond number too. At Parque, the Diamond number for a Mule Deer is 312.17, I assume that's the lowest number, higher is possible. I just screwed up what I believe would be a Mule Diamond, rushed the shot, I know better (grin).

Tkx guys...

You got it right. Strangely whitetail only go to level 3. Very Easy. Birds and small game go to level 3, except geese I believe,
Here's a good info page for all the relevant info.

Click on the tabs on the bottom to change maps. First tab has all the weapons, animals, and classeds they are good for.
