as to the spooking ?
There are different opinions around.
The "most common" is: If you fast-travel to the tent, it will create noise. Animals within 150m, maybe less, will hear it and react. So, no, the Tent will not scare em away, fast-travel to the tent may do so.
I cant confirm that. I fast-traveled to tents and yes, the animals reacted, but they always were right beside my tent, so I expected that. Some of them did not even care, sometimes they fled. Might be random. However, just put a tent on a spot will not really scare them away just because its there, at least to my experience so far.
Fast travel is harder to test, but I will say I rarely find animals near one that I just traveled to, so I suspect the few times I have seen one it was outside the sound range and already walking across my path when I arrived.
An unoccupied tent does not spook animals. Tents are not hunting structures. We are just as visible to the animals when we are inside a tent as we would be standing in the middle of an open short grass field. We can not shoot out of tent windows and shooting out the open door of a tent may result in our shot being blocked by the invisible conflict barrier unless we are right up to the middle of the entrance. Fast traveling to or from any location generates enough noise to spook many animals within 150 meters.
