Functionally, the game should be identical on both platforms. There is no platform-exclusive content. However, Steam is by far the more mature platform with lots of functions like family sharing (if you have friends or family who want to play the game as well), in-house streaming (if e.g. want to run the game on a powerful gaming rig but sit outside with a laptop), overlay functions like a notepad and a web browser, community functions like achievements and trading cards, and more. Additionally, at least in my opinion, Steam cares more about customers than Epic does (Epic's strategy is to first and foremost be a good platform for developers so that these sign exclusivity contracts, customers come second), and Steam doesn't have a CEO who keeps making incredibly single-minded, aggressive, and divisive posts on social media. Whether any of that matters to you, is of course for you to decide. :)

Finding DLCs at a good price might be easier for the Steam version since more third-party stores sell Steam keys, but I haven't really tracked that. At least right now, Epic has pretty good prices on many of the DLCs.

If you're interested in multiplayer, then getting the Steam version might be safer. The game does offer crossplay between both platforms, but apparently only between players who use Apex Connect, which may limit sessions available to you. I'm not sure if this correct though, the information that I found about crossplay has been unclear and I'm not using multiplayer features myself.

Personally, I'd say that Steam's platform functions are worth the 4€ that the game currently costs on that platform. But if you don't care about these, then you should be fine with the Epic version as well. It would also work as a "demo" before deciding whether you keep playing there, or buy the Steam version instead.

I bought it again on steam since I found it impossible to run the epic version offline. It even crashed during gameplay if the net went out even for a second.
So there is that advantage for steam version. You can play offline and if the connection goes out during gameplay it still plays normally.

Yep. It's all too true that 'you get what you pay for'
